Question about Philips 42PF9631D 42 in. Plasma Television
I was told to replace the 2 capacitor's on the board... I remove my TV off the wall and remove the back cover, i could not find the two cap's. that are recommeded to be replaced. Where exactly are the 2 Caps and what color and size are they?
I too have heard of the 2 capacitors that cause the 7 blink red led symptom. We had our phillips TV 2 years and then the problem. I took the back off our TV last weekend and sure enough on the main board was two capacitors that have bulging tops (not flat like they're supposed to be). All other caps on the board look fine. I have removed the 2 caps and ordered new ones from Digikey. They are 3300 microfarad 10V. Looking at all the other caps on the board - they are all a much higher voltage rating - some even as high as 450V. The 2 bulging caps are only 10V rated. Maybe thats why they are more susceptible to death. Anyway, my new caps should arrive today and I'll see tonight if they fix the TV.

The two caps may not be together on the board. Usually you can tell if a can capacitor is bad by looking at the top. Most have an X stamped on them. If you see one that is NOT flat then replace it.
