I too have heard of the 2 capacitors that cause the 7 blink red led symptom. We had our phillips TV 2 years and then the problem. I took the back off our TV last weekend and sure enough on the main board was two capacitors that have bulging tops (not flat like they're supposed to be). All other caps on the board look fine. I have removed the 2 caps and ordered new ones from Digikey. They are 3300 microfarad 10V. Looking at all the other caps on the board - they are all a much higher voltage rating - some even as high as 450V. The 2 bulging caps are only 10V rated. Maybe thats why they are more susceptible to death. Anyway, my new caps should arrive today and I'll see tonight if they fix the TV.

IT works.  The two caps were the problem.  They were bulged meaning they are blown.  The chemicals inside vaporized and the vent at the top blew causing the bulge.  Replacing them fixed it.  They are 3300microfarad, 10volt, 105degree C.

The two caps may not be together on the board. Usually you can tell if a can capacitor is bad by looking at the top. Most have an X stamped on them. If you see one that is NOT flat then replace it.

Samsung le40a557p2fxxu,tv looks likes its stuck on standby, is there a reset button

Hello,

The only way to reset the TV is to remove the cord from the wall, wait for about 1 hour, plug the TV back into the wall, and turn it on. If it still doesn't power up, it means it has developed a power fault.

The issue you describe is consistent with a power supply board issue. This is the board where the AC goes to. This problem may have occurred as a result of irregular power supply, or excess power supply or power surge.

The TV is receiving current but cannot circulate or transfer the current to other necessary part of the TV because of the defective power supply board. You might be lucky it's just a blow fuse. Also a defective transformer can cause your TV not to power on.

All these can be checked on the power supply board.

But more often bad capacitors causes problem on the power supply board. I do not think the power board needs replacement, rather those defective capacitors is causing this issue. Open unit up and take a look at the power supply board. You will probably see one or more electrolytic filter capacitors that are bulged up in the top-not perfectly flat like the others.

The value of these capacitors will be different, most likely they will be somewhere around-820 to 2200uF/25 V( or /10V sometimes)

You can replace them with same values but I would recommend the voltage rating to be higher(like 35V for an original 25V) for reliability purposes.

What happens is,these bulged top capacitors will cause a low and unfiltered DC voltage=main board will malfunction(the relay will keep clicking until the caps are holding enough charge to bring the voltage up over a threshold point).

You can buy these capacitors at any Fry's or Radioshack store or you can order them online at vendors like "mcmelectronics.com"(look for electrolytic capacitors). After replacing these capacitor(capacitors) most likely the normal operation will be restored. Or you can by a refurbished complete power board to save you some stress from www.shopjimmy.com.

Note: There may be also some other causes for this symptom ,like a defective T con board ,or main board, but the bulged top capacitors are the most common cause for this issue.

If you don't know about TV repairers, take the TV to the nearest repairman to fix the fault for you. Also, note that TV stores a lot of current, so wait a while before opening the TV back cover.

I hope this helps.

Regards.

Hello
Digital tuner in your TV is faulty. The technician who told you so is correct. It is not a repairable unit. Replacement only can be done, and it will cost nearly $400. You can't replace it by yoursef as it is a very skilled work and need some service mode adjustments. Service mode adjustments are very critical. If you try to do it by yourself without proper knoledge about all adjustment parameters, the TV will be tampered and sometimes will turn irreparable too. Try to get it repaired around $500 as a whole. OK.

Hello,

If your TV won't turn on, you should check the power cord. Make sure that it is securely in the wall plug. Sometimes the power cord has burned out and needs to be replaced. Hello! Just check your main power supply socket. If it is ok than just open your tv back cover and check the fuse. I am sure the fuse is burnt. If the fuse is also ok than you need to consult a technition. But mostly it is the problem of burning fuse

Hello,

Did water actually entered into the TV?

A burst capacitor can splash liquid on the power supply board. So check for any burst/blow capacitor on the power supply board..... Also be ready to make replacement.

Good luck.
