Does it load into vista at all? If so, what about running System Restore.

If you don't have a disk and have already wiped your hard drive the only way to do this is to buy a new install version of the operating system.

Need factory settings aspire 5920

Laptop computers can be wonderful devices, except when the need to troubleshoot arises. Acer laptops are no different. A quick way to fix many problems with an Acer laptop running Windows is to reset it to factory settings. Resetting your Acer laptop to factory settings can eliminate slow operating, registry problems, virus problems, spyware issues and more. And a factory reset of your laptop may reduce the need for a full reinstallation of Windows.

1.Back up all necessary data to an external device such as a disk, flash drive or hard drive

2.Make sure all programs are closed and shut down your Acer laptop by opening your Start menu and selecting "Shut Down" from the options for shutting down and restarting windows.

3.Detach any external hardware such as an external hard drive or printer.

4.Press the Power button to boot your Acer laptop.

5.Press "Alt + F10" on your keyboard when the Acer screen appears at the start of the boot up process. Wait a moment while Windows loads the reset files.

6.Select "Restore System from factory default" in the Acer eRecovery Management window.

7.Click "Next" on the next screen to continue. Click "Next" on the following destination information window. This will pop up a notice telling you that resetting your Acer laptop will erase all data and restore the laptop to its original settings and configuration.

8.Click "OK" in the notice window to proceed with resetting your Acer laptop.

9.Wait while your Acer laptop is reset to factory settings.

Acer Aspire One D250-08K Need to restore to factory settings and i have no disc. Screen is black. On start up pressed ALT F10 then nothing happens

Hi,

You can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

You can also create a set to Recovery disk from the recovery partition, to do so

Start Menu> All Programs> Acer erecovery management> Click Create Factory Default Disk, if you receive any error code or unable to burn the disk, please contact Acer Technical support at 1 800 816 2237 and order for an Recovery Disk.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

Ok, the computer, when purchased should have come with a Facotry Restore CD. If it did not, then the next step would be format and reinstall the operating system. Otherwise, Once a system has been used for some time, there are so many updates that the computer has automatically downloaded that there is no way to really work around them trying to restore the system to its factory settings.

One of the other reasons why your hard drive is coming back with an error on the partion is that if the hard drive hasnt been wiped properly recently, then when it goes to seperate the drive into multiple instances (i.e different parts to the same main equipment) the computer cannot proceed because it will find little files that are stored away in those Sectors. Like DLL files that were there from previous programs. or in some cases Randomly scattered registry files.
