Question about ASUS PCI EXPRESS 2.0 GEFORCE 9600GT 512M DDR3 ENGINE CLOCK 650 MHZ MEMORY CLOCK 1, PCI Express Video Card

1 Answer

9600GT No Display

Hi there.. guys..recently i got a Ne PC

C2D E7400 2.8GHz
2GB Ram
FoxConn G31MXK v2.0 Mother Board
Sata 250GB HDD
550W psu

and got a Asus 9600GT from a friend..
He said that the card is working properly..
but for me it isnt

When i boot my comp. with the Onboard VGA the monitor gets the signal and its goes on to load XP
but when i connect the 9600GT (connected the 6pin ) and boot up it does not display anything not even BIOS ( the monitor blub is blinking but, The machine Boots to XP ( i can hear the startup song ) i have changed the settings from onbard to PCIe.. did all in bios but nothing

In the VGA the Fan spins but no display
then i connected the card & went to xp ( frm my Onboard vga) and selected devise manager But it does not display that it has a new card installed...

Pls help me guys on what to do

I contacted the person who sold it to me.. he told that the normal PSU is Not enough, so i got a 550W PSU but didnt work..
I set the Bios features to PCIex then the machine didnt Boot up it gave a Long beep with a short beep " Beeeeeep beep "
I removed the Bios battery and tried it but the same result...

another friend told, that the card must display even bios so this must be a card error..

On the Asus Site there is a VGA bios update, is it nessary to install that?.. ( as i got the machine recently im a bit scared abt it :( )

Plz Help as im in vain

Have you put another power cable to the back of the Video card. There is a slot on the back of the GT for more power. Once that is plugged in beeps will stop and you should recieve signal

You also need to install that BIOS update, I forgot to tell you that also

No it will not affect anything else it is just basically a BIOS update, so it is going to just update that specific update part

Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers for the GT?

Have you tried to remove and reseat the video card? These are the only things that will work ten you either go into the card being bad or your motherboard

New Geforce 6200 on AGP 8x slot has no output

if you can't get a display from the onboard vga the PSU must have killed the mother board. the 6200 gets all of its power from the AGP slot. so if the PSU killed the 6200 it must have gone thru the motherboard. it does not seem likely it took out the 6200 but nothing happened to the board. try taking out the RAM modules. if the computer does not beep then most likely the motherboard is dead.

My Moniter Is Blank

First make sure that you have the P4 connector (the square one at the top of the board connected to your P4 power from the power supply.
From here I would disconnect the data cables from the hdd, optical drives, and remove all video/peripheral cards. You should have only the RAM, CPU, and power connected, then try to boot again.
If this works, then add 1 device at a time until it fails to start. This will isolate the component that is giving you problems.
With a single stick of RAM, try to get the computer to POST. (if possible, test the ram in another machine first to ensure that RAM is good)

My computer shuts down when i play or when i exit 3d games

Hi, has the problem recently started after the installation of sp3 because it has been known to cause problems like your having. If the computer is a new build it could be one of two problem, the asrock motherboard which i personally wont use anymore because of constant failure, or your power supply is not powerful enough. i would recommend nothing less than 500w power supply for gaming pc`s.

Hope this helps,

Gaming pc configuration

You may want to consider a 8800 GT video card instead of the 8600GT - it's much faster and not much more money.
