I guess you're using the Kodak Easyware software for burning (since all Google hits for "imap12" refer to that software) ?

You could uninstall all the Kodak software, reboot and reinstall all the Kodak software from CD and try again.

Or you try using other CD/DVD-burning software ...

PS: "imap12" is not a Windows system file, so it should not be OS related, but really Kodak-only.

How do i restore my hp hdx18 to factory install settings? completely wipe it

Turn the computer off.
Turn the computer on, and look for a message like "press BLAH to enter System Recovery".
When you see the message, press the BLAH key.
This will start a complete "restore-to-factory" install of Windows.

Or, if you have a set of "System Recovery" CD/DVD disks from HP, then insert the 1st disk,
restart your computer, and select to boot your computer from the CD/DVD drive.

Or, there may be software already on your computer that lets you "burn" a set of "System Recovery" CD/DVD disks -- have 10 CD-R disks, and 5 DVD-R disks -- you may need to use most of these "blank" disks.

Are you using the correct CD disc for your burner. Is there another program on your computer that can burn a CD? Most computers come with basic CD burning programs.

Get a message saying ,Cannot connect to windows imap12 CD engine, What should i do

What are you trying to do when you recieve this message. The imapi2 is what allows windows burns cds ect.

This can usually be solved by ensuring all relevant updates from microsoft are installed. Have a look at their knowlegde base article 932716

also it is worth searching for the files cdrom.sys, imapi2.dll and imap12fs.dll and ensuring there are SP2

Windows xp installing failed

I assume you are trying to install XP from a self-burned CD.
Did you slipstream SP2 or SP3 in it?

If so, try to burn a DVD instead of a CD. I had that problem once too and followed some advice I found here.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

Cannot burn CD or DVD

In the Device Manager, right-click on the DVD drive and select the Uninstall option. Reboot the computer so it will re-detect the drive, reinstall the proper drivers and reset its configuration information. Then try burning the disc again.

Burner not installed message

James, I have found in the past that many computer manufacturers only install a trial version of some software. One major manufacturer, who shall remain nameless custum built a P.C online that included a CD burner, but I found out later that even though they installed the burner, they provided no burning software. It sounds as though you have no CD burning software installed. First, from the start button, go to control panel, then to add remove software. A list will compile showing all software installed on your machine. If you do not have a CD, or DVD burning program installed and your computer came with no CD's( most today do not) that may contain that program, you will probably have to buy your own at this point. Just to clarify, do you only have a CD burner, or is it a CD burner/ DVD ROM, or do you have a DVD burner. If you have a DVD burner, then you are capable of burning both CD's and DVD's. If you need to purchase burning software I would suggest you do an internet search for Nero, This is the software that I use. It works well in addition to being easy to use.On the Nero site I have in the past purchased their OEM version, the OEM versions are usually available at very good prices. I prefer to purchase software online and have a disc mailed to me as opposed to downloading it online just so that I have a hard copy if I ever need it. If you are limited to burning CD's, just get the CD software. If the device you have installed in your computer is a DVD burner, then purchase the DVD software and you can burn on both formats.
