Question about Toshiba SD-4700 DVD Player

Changed HDMI settings and can't now see image on screen

I have a Toshiba SD-480ekb DVD player, stupidly I changed the settings of the HDMI scaling and it's now just displaying a blue screen. The machine isn't connected via a HDMI cable, it's only an old scart cable. I just want to know how to reset the machine to its original factory settings. If any one can help that would be brilliant.

Thanks

Terry.

I did the same thing, if you hold the hdmi select button on the player (not the remote) while ejecting and inserting a dvd, it will reset so you are able to access the setup menu again.

Using a DVD-RW disk, try ALL different recording settings even if they don't seem probable and record a sample. If output is correct with all BUT the HDMI-cable, go through ALL picture format settings on the TV when a HDMI-cable is used. Different discs and HDMI cables don't have anything to do with this. I got the same problem today. I thought it was a connection on HDMI cable problem. I tried many different options to solve it but nothing was working. After I read your post I realized that my 2 y old boy was playing with the remote before it happened. So I found on menu in DVD player option - default setting- and I pressed it - and bingo - it's working. I used cinch cables instead HDMI while I was fixing - just in case you cannot get the menu screen on tv - good luck

Attempting to play a DVD on a Toshiba player but not able to get full screen picture on TV. Can you help with the problem?

A DVD plays in "Letterbox" format. To have full screen, the TV settings need to be changed to full screen, or zoom. Found in the TV menu of most TV's.

Reset Toshiba SD-5000 Dvd player to factory defaults

With most Toshibas, you could un-plug them and leave it for either 10minutes or 30minutes and it would reset. strange, I know. give it a try.

I also found this when working on a similar problem with your player, it may be relevant -you could try pressing the power button and another button..
sorry, I don't have one in front of me to test..

[[power off the player
hit the power button and immediately hold the HDMI select button
the 3 HD indicator lights will cycle and then pushing the HDMI select button will move through the resolutions.]]

How to reset the default value for the toshiba sd 6100 dvd player

If you want HDMI 'Auto' mode (the factory default), you need a combination of selecting the proper output mode (use the remote's 'Progressive' button to toggle between the four output modes: HDMI, RCA VGA, component video out and s-video. Once you're in HDMI mode (the led's on the front of the box are a dead give-away!), then you can press the front panel 'HDMI Select' button to move through the five available HDMI settings: 480P, 720P, 1080i, 1080P and 'Auto'. You're in 'Auto' mode when all four led's are lit.
