Hi just read your posting.Error Code 49 means your Cold water valve is faulty,Or your control module is faulty.To test this fault you need an electrical test meter to test the water valve coil for conductivity.Have you or can you borrow a test meter to check the water valve?Please reply on how you would like to proceed and I am sure I can guide you throe the steps needed to rectify this fault.Looking forward to your reply.

Ok this fault is telling me you have a faulty RPS(Rotor Positioning Sensor) in this machine. The RPS sensor is located in the motor Stator. To replace you need to remove the motor rotor then the motor Stator. you want to be careful with this part when fitting it as they can break.
Is it possible that water has gotten inside the controls that could have caused the flashing lights? Kind of like spilling water on a calculator, everything seems to go haywire.
