SOURCE: Scanner issue on the HP 1610 all in one

Hi, Let me explain you the real cause so that when ever you face this issue with any printer you will be able to fix this in quick time. The scanning needs Bi-directional communication and as you are able to print and scan from the computer software fine this shows that the software part of scanning exe file is working fine. Please try to scan from software and if this works we have to next check for full feature HP software is installed in the computer. If you are able to scan fine from HP software check for the DIGITAL IMAGING Monitor Icon it will be a green icon in the system tray in the right corner of desktop this icon must be present to enable the scan from front panel scan button. If the icon is there right click on it and exit it and then search for hpqtra08.exe file in the computer if the file is found double click on the application file to get the icon back running on the desktop. Once done try to scan again from the front panel scan button and check if the issue is resolved. If the Digital imaging monitor icon is not on the desktop system tray search for the file hpqtra08.exe in the computer and excute the application file . Even if the icon is there and you are not able to scan from the scan button we have to set the settings in the HP software In the HP director click on settings >> scan settings >> scan to button settings there click on the Destination list button this will open a small window with Two boxes 1)Available scan list 2) front panel scan to list all we have to do is to move all the programes from the available scan to list to front panel scan to list by selecting each program and click on add to move it to right. Once done do not forget to save the settings click on OK to save the settings once done try to scan from scan button this should fix the issue. The Digital imaging monitor icon or Hpqtra08.exe file should be running to enable the scan function from the scan button ... I hope this will help you in solving the all the issue in future related to scan butto not working the same steps applies to NO SCAN OPTIONS message on printer when you try to scan ..... SOURCE: HP Officejet J5750 can't scan, fax from PC and no HP devices detected error

This issue is common with every HP scanning software used with Windows OS which have a firewall running.

If you would try the following:

- check the task bar if HP digital imaging monitor is up and running
- if not, go to C:\program files\hp\digital imaging\bin and double click the file HPQTRA08.EXE
- now the monitor should run
- if not, pls reinstall the software (*)
- if yes, pls try to open HP solution center

- if solution center starts, pls try to scan or to fax
- if successful, no other steps are required

- if faxing is not successful, check in the printer folder, if you find a HP <device name> series fax entry
- if you cannot find it, unplug the printer and delete the entries in both the printer folder and scanner folder
- also run the software CD and start the uninstall_l1.bat and uninstall_l2.bat in the util\CCC on the CD (if 64 bit OS, the run the 64 bit versions)
- restart the PC with the loaded CD
- replug the printer and let it be reinstalled

(*) For a clean reinstall it is recommended to contact HP support. They know the best way to leave a clean system on the PC.

Hope it helps.

SOURCE: this error will not stop coming up on my computer

Navigate to C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin
or C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin

Double Left Click on the executable file:

hpqdstcp.exe

You will NOT see anything happen but it will get your program destinations setup correctly and hopefully remove the error. This sometimes happens when you change printers and old stuff stays on your PC.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: unable to communicate with HP scanning software

This happened to me a couple times with the HP Series all in one and stand alone scanners. Goto Walmart and buy a USB hub that has a dedicated power supply. For some reason HP is notorious for this problem.

Unable to install SCAN functions for HP PSC 1610

If you are having issues using your PSC 1610 on the Vista operating system there is actually an easy workaround using "paint" (I'm using "SnagIT").

Check it out:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00809848&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=390315&lang=en

For whatever reason you can't use the actual button on the printer/scanner but when you open paint you can scan the doc from your computer.

Hope this helps!

Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came withthe printer. When the software program asks you to connect theprinter to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Our scanner wont work the printer and copier work fine

You should be able to find a white sticker on the bottom of the printer. The serial number will be there as well. If you have the PCS 1610 than follow the uninstall instructions given by Hp at this link:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00265838&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=390315&dlc=en&lang=en
Than go to the link below and download & install the 1610 software: HP Full Feature software/driver: No Network Support &
HP Image Zone/Photo and Imaging Unexpected Internal Error and Communications Failure Patch
That should fix your troubles. Look at the fixes while at Hp and if you feel you need other upgrades now would be a good time to download.

Flashing display

It is very important you follow ALL of Hp's instruction at the link provided below for uninstalling your PCS software. Than go to the bottom of the link and also follow the instruction to run the uninstall utility called "Uninstall.bat"
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00265838&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=390315&dlc=en&lang=en
Reinstall your driver software from Hp's download site. (these are updated drivers).
Most of the time its a good idea to follow the instruction during installation.
