Fan motor runs, changed the relay kit on the compressor and it ran a few minutes and started to cool then it quit working again. Relay just clicks once in a while and compressor felt really hot. There are only two electrical parts that can be easily serviced, the relay and the fuse. 56.00 gamble for the fix and it didnt work. Looks like a new fridge is needed.

Heater blows hot nnnnnnnthen cold ,,,,,,stays cold

To start, the first thing I would check is the fluid level in your cooling system. Do not remove the radiator cap if the engine is hot! The water will shoot out like a geyser and you could get burned or scalded by steaming hot water. Best to check it when the engine is cool.
If you need to add fluid it should minimally be a mixture of 50% water and 50% antifreeze. This way the fluid won't freeze in the winter or overheat in the summer.

Check the hose that runs from the radiator cap to the overflow container. Make sure it doesn't have any holes in it and it is not plugged up. Make sure the overflow tank has fluid in it to the level indicated on the tank.

These are basic, simple things to check. If these don't remedy the problem other possibilities are a bad thermostat, water pump, radiator cap, or a plugged heater core.

Tip

Staying in hot water

With water rates on the rise, it is costly letting water run at a remote hot water faucet. It makes more sense than ever to insulate exposed hot water pipes in the basement with the foam insulation that's split lengthwise.

As an added benefit, freezing pipes can be avoided during power outages. The hot water pipes freeze sooner than the cold water ones because the freezing point of heated water is closer to 32*F than the freezing point of cold water. Cold water has a depressed freezing point due to dissolved minerals from municipal water treatments. Water that's been heated has fewer contaminants, hence less freezing point depression!

pull the plug and let it defrost. ck the drain for water. it maybe pluged. after 2 to 4 hrs. plug it back in and set the temp. to -10 degrees f . fill small dish or bowl with water and see how long it take to freez. if it takes longer then 4 hrs you may need freon or have a compreesor problem, or defrost timer .

Freezer is not freezing properly and the refigerator is not cold

You have a defrost problem. The fridge gets cold air from freezer, if ice blocking from no defrost, no fridge temperature.

1.8T with cold start problem.

The engine temp sensor is located at the back of the engine above the gearbox. It is usually green with 4 wires if there is only one sensor, or 2 wires if there are 2 seperate sensors. make sure engine is cold, remove plug, then slide clip out and pull sensor free.

Hotpoint hss25gp Not keeping cold or freezing

Check and clean the condenser coils where heat is transfered to the room air. If they are plugged with dust it will cause your problem. Check the back wall of the freezer for snow. If snow is on the back wall you have a defrost system problem.
