Typically this is done using the software disk that came with the printer. The disk will help the wireless connection coordinate with the laptop and will also install the driver.

How can I set up my HP C7180 to scan to my second laptop, a VAIO VPC-EB33FM/B

To be able to scan to the laptop it MUST be connected to the printer either with a usb cable or through the router. There is a way to bypass the wireless functionality of the router and laptop. Use an ethernet cable to connect your laptop directly to the router. It should work right away. It's highly unlikely that Windows XP will not work the wireless router. I would suggest you contact the actual manufacturer of the router instead of verizon.

Can we use MF6550 for wireless network?

If you use a wireless USB print server like this . Keep in mind that you may not get all functions such as scanning to work but it will allow for printing for sure. If the scanning works consider it a bonus.

You have to make sure the following are used on your wireless settings on your router -

Wireless Network Security SSID (32 chr), WEP 64/128bit, WPA-PSK (TKIP/AES), WPA2-PSK (AES)

This means your SSID is less than 32 chars and your running either WEP, WPA. Or WPA2

Then on your printer make sure you have the wireless enabled and Just a good rule of thumb - When putting in a wireless printer just fudge with the wirless/TCP/IP settings on the printer until you can ping the printer from the PC. Do NOT bother running the software installs until you know you have a good ping from the printer as it will just bomb out.

do rate the solution plz

My printer, a Lexmark x6570 would not work with my new Mac. So I took the printer to the Apple store and now it won't connect with my old computer or more importantly our laptop. Can you help?

Are you using the wireless networking functionality or USB? I'm assuming the old computer is a PC. Select "Start", "Lexmark", open the installed software to troublshoot connectivity for the USB connection.

If using the wireless connection, go into the start menu to the Lexmark software, select the wireless configuration tool.

Networking a Printer on a wireless network

Deanna, if the mfc is not that old, take it back to the dealer and ask for changing it to a wireless printer (extension: CW). Do you really need the fax function? If not, try this printer: DCP 750CW. If yes, get the MFC 845 CW. The CN printer have to be connected directly to router or pc/laptop.
