It also could be that the DVR is programmed for one satilite connection. I has the problem with a bad cable and it would still record but it was a blank screen. You need to go into the menu and setup area and check the setting.

If it is a new dvr then is was not programmed but if it just stopped then look at the cable. Some DVR's may block access to the SAT. connection with no signal but not all of them.

A slight change that the mulitplexer at the dish went bad.

Check the back of the DVR to make sure BOTH cables from the dish are properly connected to the receiver. Make sure they are properly tightened. It sounds like one of them has come loose, because if the receiver only has one working cable coming in from the dish it can only do one thing at once- you can only record one show at a time with one cable. You can also go into the receiver's setup menu and run a system test, which will help you diagnose the issue.

Dish changing channel to new recording while watching *pre-recorded* program

rjvdw,

Try unplugging the receiver for 10 seconds then plugging it back in, and see if the problem is resolved. The receiver should only switch if you are watching live TV instead of a recording.

If the problem persists, and you are for sure not on Live TV, the receiver may need to be replaced. If it continues you can send me an email at thomas.faust@dishnetwork.com, and I can assist you further!

Can not stop scheduled TV recording to DVD by pessing the STOP button

This happens if you are watching the show live and recording at the same time.

Option 1
Try changing the channel. It will ask you if you want to stop recording and go to the other channel.

Option 2
Go to the list of recorded shows. You can delete the show you wanted to press stop during (it will still be recording). The show will be deleted and, therefore, recording will be stopped.

When you play a recorded show from a DVD player

As long as you leave the unit in standby mode and do not change the disc in the meantime, it should start from the last position.

If, however, you're smart enough to have bought DVD-RAM discs (they're ACE!), you can just hit Create Chapter on the remote control and skip directly to that chapter when you next view that disc.

Is it possible to record one show, while watching another ??

You need to put a cable splitter on the cable. One side goes to the TV. The other side goes to the recorder. The output of the recorder goes to one of the alternate inputs on the TV. Set the recorder for whatever channel you want to record using its internal tuner. Use the TV tuner to watch a show live. Later, set the TV input to whatever you connected the recorder output to and watch your recording. You will probably need to do this to see the recorder menu to set up the recording.

Shows canceled?

Make sure u have signal on both tuners on the DVR ( check it in your set-up screen). both tuners should have the same siganl strength. Directv's DVRs, if installed correctly, give u the option of recording one channel and watch another, or recording 2 seperate channels( 2 tuners). If you are recording 2 seperate shows and u change the channel one of your recordings will cancel .

RECORDING PROBLEM

Connectivity problem. Without knowing your models and their available channels etc., it's very difficult to advise you exactly.
Broadly though ...... you need to get the input signal routing sorted.
Plug your aerial into the Freeview box. Make a connection from its RF out, (beside the aerial 'in' socket) to the aerial 'in' socket on the JVC. Run yet another co-axial connection from the JVC RF 'out' to the television.
Now - connect a scart lead between the JVC and the TV. Power off the freeview. Switch your TV to accept A/V - to show the JVC on screen. Read/go through the 'Set up' procedure on the JVC to scan in the available broadcast channels. When done - connect using a scart between the Freeview box and the JVC. This will be located on either the L1 or L2 channel selection.
IF as it seems you are using the freeview to watch all your programmes - and record in then you are simply watching and recording 'live' change the Freeview programme and the JVC gets that same one arriving in (and sending to the TV)
Unless you need to record Freeview only output - always record from the aerial input. You select via the television remote (and 'TV' selected) and the appropriate channel.
Complex to explain - hope it helps. The one thing to remember - is to make one set of changes at a time - check the result is okay, before moving to the next.
