On intial start up of the CPU, I get a Black Screen on the montior, witht he words "Enter Current Password", you only get 3 chances to enter it, max 8 letters or characters.
This CPU was given to me and the orginal owners can't remember there old password.
Thanks in advance.
Do you have the software disks that came with the system? If it was given to you and you arent really sure of whats on it (viruses included), its worth reformatting.
If you have the disks, you can put the operating system disk into the computer and have it boot off of that.
This sounds more like a password in the BIOS. You can reset it by unplugging the computer and then opening it up and removing the battery from the motherboard and waiting about 30 seconds. then with the computer unplugged push the power button to be sure all of the power is drained from the computer. put the battery back in and plug the computer back in and that should reset it.
