If you have changed the filter, and the light stays on then you need to let the system stay down for 24 hours without running. Also go ahead and check the vent cap on the outside of the unit. The light will go awaa by itself if you need to use the system

How can I clean inside a rinnai convector 417 gas heater

http://rinnai.co.nz/tradesmart/upload/files/productfile/portable_convector_rce417_operation_and_installation.pdf

Beside cleaning the filters with a vacuum, There are no instructions on how to clean the inside of the heater. The back and front panels would need to be removed. Unless you are confident to remove the panels, just blow it out as you ahve done and make sure the filters are clean.

After it has been on for a while the filter light start flashing. Tell you tell me why please. It has just been serviced.

Ben, just because the heater was recently service, doesn't mean the filter may have gotten dirty from use, since then. Or the filter was overlooked during servicing.

In either case, turn the electrical part of the heater OFF and unplug it from the wall receptacle. Remove the filter and clean it, if necessary. Reinstall the filter properly, plug the unit back in and turn the Master ON/OFF switch to ON. Start the heater and the Filter Clean Light should not glow.

Hope this helped you solve the problem.

My heater keeps blinking and a code on the top says 11...also ..if i unplug the unit while i wait for it to get fixed does the pilot light go out?

There is no pilot light on this model. An 11 error code tells us that there is no gas supply to the heater. Could be a bad gas valve, dirty igniter, gas got shut off somehow, dirty burner, etc... All you can do is make sure the filter is clean, a technician will need to open it up. Sorry.

My rinnai 556f wont run. I turn it on and the on light quickly turns red. Also the filter light comes on even after I clean the filter.

Press the up arrow, down arrow and economy button all at the same time and hold them down for three seconds. A bunch of lights will light up under the numbers. Write them down and look in your operation manual for a diagnostic chart. I suspect a dirty filter has burnt out a overheat safety switch. I may have one if you need one. chandler@chandlerrepair.com.

Wooden,

You have some problem with the spark. Either it didn't come on or it stayed on longer than it should. Try to start the heater and look into the burner you should see a spark in the pot.

Rinnai mdl. 1001 LP does not light.

If your unit starts and runs for any length of time before quitting you may have a problem with the circulating fan blades. They need to be spotlessly clean. The filter is easy to get to, however the blades are not. Taking the circulating fan apart is a pain. A long brush that can get into the blades would work. You can blow them out with air but that gets everywhere. If the whole inside of the unit is linted over, all that stuff has to go. Be sure the lovers in the front of the stove are all open.

Good luck,

Filter light & water mark

The tray is if you want to add humidity. You will constantly be filling it. The filter light could indicate a dirty blower or debris slowing down air flow over the heater.

You have a dirty pilot assembly and maybe even a bad ECO switch (safety switch). I would suggest replacing the ECO and removing the pilot assembly and clean it out.
