It is probably ignition failure. Hard to diagnose with out witnessing it. I wud replace the wires to the spark plugs and the spark plugs themselves. If you take it to a service shop they will probably do that first and charge you more.

SOURCE: W REG 2000 FORD FOCUS WON'T START

not familiar with immobiliser. i would check connections between ignition switch and starter relay and connections between starter relay and starter, in other words that whole starter circuit. some of the connections may be weak where they go to power or ground. new battery makes it work okay, then it after while not so good makes me suspect those connections. it could also be a starter problem, might be a burnt place on the starter, when the starter motor stops in a certain place it can't get good connection and so won't let current pass, motor can't turn, no start. hope this helps.

1998 ford focus 1.6 zetec petrol car juddering when driving.

Be a good idea to drive it yourself or have an experienced person drive it because folk tend to describe things very differently - one person's judder is another person's oscillation. Since the internet fewer folk read books and the ability to paint an accurate picture with words is steadily being lost...

Worn or damaged drive shaft(s), mostly inner joints.
Mismatched or defective tyres.
Seized shock(s).
Damaged or defective brake rotors.

Are just a few possibilities. Driving the car will give an experienced person an idea what to look for when he carries out the necessary hands-on inspection.

Brake juddering, failure: ABS or master cylinder, or anything els

i would say have your abs system bled. this only requires a computer and someone who knows how to use it. after bleeding the abs then the rest of the system should be bled. if you had a bad secer it would set what is known as a hard code and the light would always stay on.

Hi, my freelander is a 1998 S reg 2.0TDI. Sometimes whilst driving the car, it judders for a second just like the engine cut out or something for a second and then carrys on fine. It hasn't done it much...

Best to have a good dealer tech test this...they have more exposure to it and know what to look for... It is inside the transfer case and not easily serviceable unless you have experience with trans type gearsets. Don't forget though that I am not there and can't do more than make an educated guess...I'm wrong here much more often than I am when making hands on diagnosis only because I cant hear, see and drive your vehicle. That is why I always stress that you need to have hands on diagnosis by someone that is well versed in your problem. In your case, I really hope that it turns out to be something simple and less expensive!!!
Good luck!
