I put away an old computer and forgot the password to unlock it. Now I want to use it for my daughter, but can't unlock it.
Step 1:
Restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer. Use the system restore to restore your system to an earlier time click start all programs accessories system tools you should see your system restore option if it is a hardware issue the system restore might not work Manual restore points that you specify with the System. Configuration utility Installation restore points that occur before you install a program or a service you can use the system checkpoints or the installation restore points to restore your computer's settings to a date when it operated correctly. This may also help determine the cause of the configuration error.
To perform a system restore, follow these steps: 1.Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK. 2.On the General tab, click Launch System Restore. 3.Select Restore my computer to an earlier time, and then click Next. 4.Calendar dates in bold are possible restore points. Click the most recent one to view system restore information. 5.Select a system checkpoint or an installation restore point, and then click Next. 6.Close all other programs. 7.To start the system restore, click Next. 8.Your computer restarts. Repeat steps 1 through 8 until you fix your configuration issue.

Ok ive found out,there are two ways 2 do it 1u just need to take out
the battery, and Press the on/off button for 5seconds, the 2nd is more
drastic u need to dissasemble all parts and take off the small
battery(its even in PCs) and hold iit for ten minutes, then its going
to be ok (ive did the second way, because the first way works only on
some notebooks)
or
BIOS passwords can be reset in two ways,
1. using software 2. using hardware.
I would first try resetting using software, here are two software's to reset or retieive BIOS passwords.

You can remove or change the Windows User oradministrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access todownload the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot upthe laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. Threre is only one way to get passed it , you have to open your laptop case to expose the motherboard and find the pin that says" PASWRD" and remove that pin .
you can try removing the battery for 5 min , and see if it resets ..........Good luck Roy
