Question about Ecoquest Flair Air Purifier

1 Answer

Only one plate inside, it's glass edges are broken or deteriorate

Older Flair unit, does not do much anymore but fan seems to work OK. Are there supposed to be one or two plates inside? Should the rear filter be replaced or just washed ( it is a screen)? I hate to spend $150 for replacement parts if it is just worn out after 10 or so years.

Thanks

I haven't seen an older Flair that I know of. There will be as many slots for plates as are required. The filter is definitely washable. Use an enzyme cleaner and rinse with hot water. The fan motor should be oiled every month or two. It should cost less than $100 to get it running in top shape.

It's attached to the pulse radio-wave ionizer. It comes on when the unit is on to show the radio wave is working. It's not needed and I've never seen a replacement but Radio Shack could probably help you replace it if you wanted.

HELLO AND GOOD MORNING I HAVE A FLAIR AIR

Open the back and change the Ozone plate. then slide out the ION plate and clean it with denatured alcohol. If no light inside, you may have to replace the bulb and / or starter. Hope that helps.

Living air xl 15 One of the two glass plates inside has broken along the edge of the mesh. "Adhesive" material that appears to hold the mesh in place is blackened as though burned. Fan will come on but...

Broken discharge plates have to be replaced, otherwise the high-voltage shorts-out through the break. The glue being burned is an additional clue.

The fan is a separate circuit/function.

Replace the glass plates (purchase from EcoQuest Intl. or from a EQI dealer near you, expect to pay ~$20-30/plate depending on model and shipping costs. I also sell them as I am an EcoQuest™ dealer, though the shipping charges may make me less economical than someone local to you. My Alpine Air XL-15 Air Purifier youst to have a

The Classic XL-15 should have 2 individual indicator lights. The 'red' light is the ionizer indicator, and the 'green' light is the ozone level indicator. Both lights should be illuminated, if the unit is operating properly. The red light should be pulsing, and the green light should be dimly lit, and brightened as the output knob is turned up - indicating a higher ozone production. If the green light is not lit, you likely won't smell the ozone. The first thing you should try, is cleaning the filter and glass ozone plate. Unplug the unit and remove the rear air filter. Clean the filter with clean water and allow to COMPLETELY air dry. Removed the glass plate by depressing the lever behind the glass plate, and gently pulling it out. Clean the glass with a half water, half ammonia (or distilled white vinegar, if ammonia not available) and an old toothbrush to clean between the mesh. Dry plate with a hair dryer and re-place plate into unit. Replace dried air filter, making sure the little tab on the bottom is secured into the interlock. Power the unit on and you should see the indicator lights and smell the fresh ozone!

You need to order two ceramic plates and a lint filter. The lint filter is the one that goes on the back. The two glass plates are what ionizes the air. They do not make them from glass anymore. You will need to go to the ecoquest website nd order the parts. It will run you right about $75. Ecoquest bought Flair out a few years ago. Hope it helps.
