Question about Belkin Routers

4 Answers

I'm trying to connect my Belkin N1 wireless router to my SKY broadband to replace my netgear router to improve the wireless range. I've tried the usual websites and extracted the username and password for the netgear router, but it still doesn't recognise the ISP setting at the end of the set-up process. I have used the following settings: username: 12 digits alphanumeric@skyds1 password: 10 digits alphanumeric VPI: 0 VCI: 38 Network type: PPPoA It appears possible to do from the various help websites, but after days of frustation I'm not so sure! Any suggestions would be much be appreciated

Hi, I think you are trying too hard. If your netgear worked so will your belkin. Remove the belkin and put your netgear back on, make sure it works OK. Remove any of the belkin software you install under add/remove settings and in the network connections. Enter the netgear address into your browser and you can view any of the settings. You don't say what your computer OS is but the belkin wizard is really good. So now put the belkin back on let your OS find the hardware and when it does it may ask if you have the disk that came with it, install the program. The only information you will really need is the login information from your isp. Good Luck!

You have to contact to your isp for that issue.
Thanks

Setting up a w.less repeater using an old w.less b.band router

Temporarily plug in wire network cable into Dell and log into Dell.
1. Set wireless up the same as the Belkin. Save these settings.
2. Set WAN to "Static IP Address and give it an address about 25 higher than Belkin. (Belkin 192.169.0.1 - Del 192.168.0.26). Save these settings.
3. Disable DHCP and Save these settings.
Exit web browser and disconnect network cable. Restart your complete system, first the Belkin, then the Dell, then your computers.
This way, the Belkin is running and able to assign IP addresses to all that start after it.

Connection problems

Sound like the least road of Pain is to Return it and write down the new code you need to know.

There may be other solutions, but is support is not helping, get another brand. It should not be that hard.
I might suggest Linksys / Cisco

Low signal from my wireless adaptor / router

Have you tried connecting the laptop in a different wireless network? Try changing the channel in your router and you may also upgrade the firmware of your router.

Major issues

I had the same problem. My Belkin N1 Router was constantly dropping the WiFi connection (every few minutes). I tried several solutions I found on different forums:

Change the channel selection from Auto to a specific channel -- I tried all 13 channels, but no improvement.

Update the firmware to the latest (Beta) version -- still no improvement.

Finally I enabled "Protected Mode" and the connection seems fine now.

Hope this helps, and good luck!
