I have a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router. I have forgotten the password and need it. I have tried going to 192.168.1.1 and typing "admin" in the password, leaving the username blank. When it didn't work, I tried pressing the reset button for 60 sec. and, since the power light didn't stop blinking, I un-plugged it for 30 sec., like a suggestion on this sight said. Then I tried the 192.168.1.1 again, and it still didn't work. Anyone know how to help?

Never mind my post. Just after I posted it, I tried jgwhomeequip's suggestion again, and it worked.

I summarize what I did:

1) press the reset button until the power light starts to blink
2) release the reset button and wait until the power light is solid again
3) type "192.168.1.1" in the URL, and when prompted, type "admin" in the password spot, leaving username blank
4) Press enter, and the settings page should load. From here, you can change all settings.
5) For the specific problem of changing the SSID and password, go to "Wireless", "Basic Wireless Settings" (for SSID), and "Wireless Security" (for password)

It worked for me, so I hope it works for you.

Press and hold the reset button for 60 seconds, after you release the reset button wait until the power light stops blinking. If it does not stop blinking, then unplug it for 30 seconds and plug it back in. After that type in at the address bar, 192.168.1.1

How do I set up the wireless network key on my linksys router?

Hi.

This tip applies to any Linksys wireless router.

First you need to access the router control panel , and check wireless settings.

Therouter control panel is accessed connecting a computer to the router. This is done using an Ethernet cable, and entering router IP address in Internet Explorer address bar.

Here the cable:

57f8aa9.jpeg

Here the procedure.

Connect router to computer using a network cable (LAN cable with RJ45 connector).

On computer open Internet explorer and type router IP in the address bar (where you use to typewww.this.that ).The IP address is indicated on router user manual. Ifit has not been changed, 192.168.1.1 is the default for LinkSys brand home broadband routers. Press enter after typing the IP.

Enter router user name and passord. On older LinkSys routers, the default username is blank and the default password is "admin." On newer LinkSys routers, both the default usernameand the password are "admin". If that does not work, then defaultsettings had been changed. In that case you will need to reset therouter. See: Reset a LinkSys Router Password.

After entering right ID and password you will open the router control pane as HTML page in Internet Explorer.

In the router control panel choose the wireless setting tab to see or modify the password:

If you do not need to change wireless settings, then write down the encryption key, and set the same key on the laptop. Once the right key is set on the laptop, the connection will start automatically.

If more computersare connecting to this network, then do not reset or change thewireless settings. Simply write down the key on paper and setup thelaptop.

Remember that WAP encryption keys are case sensitive, Wep encryption keys are not.

The simplest encryption to choose is WEP.
WEP means wireless encryption key.

Open the router panel, go to wireless, and find key settings or set your own key.

If you have to set the key:

If you choose WEP 64, then the key that you need to set will be 10 characters key made by numbers and letters from A to F.

Close Internet Explorer to get out of the Linksys control panel.

Regards.

Reset linksy router b> One of the most common fixes for Internet connectivity often involves resetting the source of your Internet connection. If you have a DSL or cable Internet connection, you may use a Linksys router to get on the Internet. When you reset a Linksys router, you'll likely solve your connection problem.

Turn off the power to your computer's modem. Use the switch on your cable or DSL modem to disable it while you reset the Linksys router. Find the reset button your Linksys router. Most Linksys models have the reset option on the back of the router. Use a pointed pen or pencil to press in the reset button on your Linksys router. Hold down the reset button for approximately 30 seconds. Watch the lights on the front of the router. After you reset the router, power will get restored to the Linksys router. Once power's available, you can switch the modem back on. Reconfigure your router. After you reset your router, you'll have to log in and reconfigure your settings. The login name is typically left empty with your password as "admin."
Reset a Linksys Wireless Router b> You may need to reset your Linksys wireless router if you are having Internet connectivity issues or other networking problems. You can reset the router to the default factory settings, such as the default IP (Internet protocol) address, username and password. However, after you perform the factory reset, you can follow the initial setup instructions to replace your previous settings.

Write down any important settings you may have--such as the router's password--before you reset the router. Locate the reset button on the router. Some Linksys models have a reset button on the back side. Other Linksys models have a small pinhole you may need to access by using the tip of a pen or pencil. Press and hold the reset button for a minimum of 30 seconds to perform a factory reset on the Linksys router. The Linksys router should lose power. Power on the Linksys router to initiate the configuration wizard. Reconfigure any previous wireless settings on your Linksys router.

Hope this helps.

Have an ipod and dont remember the linksys password

goto a computer that is online.

Open up internet explorer or your favorite browser

type in 192.168.1.1

press enter

if you did not change the user name and password, username should be left empty with nothing in the username portion and the password is "admin"

if you did change the password and forgot the router password then you must hit the reset button on the back of your router to default the router and will need to reset up your wireless security settings.

but, once you get into the linksys administration page goto the wireless security section and you will see your wireless password there.

I need to reset my wifi network password but don't know how

The router's password can be changed by running the routers setup cd. If you do not have the cd:

1.Open your browser

2.In the address bar type in 192.168.1.1 this will bring you to your router configuration.

3.put in your username/password "If you forgot your username and password you can always reset your router, if that is the case your router will go to back to default settings,In order to reset the router look in the back of the router and you will see a reset button, press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, the reset button is located next to the Internet port on the router.

4. When your linksys router configuration is up, go to Administration.

5. change password that's it!! hope this helped. Good Luck

I need to password for my wireless router and Linksys refuses to help. Does anyone know how to do this?

use the following website to find out the password:
http://www.routerpasswords.com/index.asp
In the list of the router, select linksys and try the given username and password as per your model no. and internet service provider.
However, if you still do not know about the username and password, you can reset the router. You can user the following link to reset the router:

Forgot linksys router password

Resetting router will revert back to factory default settings. If you had special settings then you will have to set those back up.

Default password to get into the Linksys routers. Username is blank, password is admin.

You will have to setup the wireless portion again after reset.

I've forgotten my password

DOH! Sorry to hear that! Unless you can remember it, you'll need to reset your router to the factory defaults, which will unlock your password. Your router should have a tiny button on it you'd typically use a ball point pen to depress, which resets it to factory defaults.

Some routers, like linksys, don't have an actual user name so be sure you're leaving that blank. If it is a linksys, the default username is blank, and the password is admin. You'll want to change that quickly and I recommend writing your password in sharpie under your router if you're the forgetful type.
