Slow Start Up and run Speed on a Satalite Laptop

This machine was working fine on Monday, two days later it is running like molasses. When I try to load any programs or web pages it can take up to 10 minutes. As of now my cup usage is at 12% and available memory is 211300k.

You may need to do some "housecleaning". You probably have to many running processes. There are many Freeware programs to use to clean up and disable all unnecessary programs. All programs that start with windows will slow down the Laptop. Most are unnecessary and should be Shut down until needed. Two freeware programs to help are , 1, CCLEANER: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ This will remove the junk, use cleaner and registry, configure, scan, delete. In the TOOLS section , select STARTUP, disable ALL unnecessary Startup programs to speed up starts and running, the more that's running in background the slower your machine will be. Your specs are minimal at best, you need to "lighten the load" on the processor and the memory. Uninstall ALL unnecessary programs, junkware, toolbars, extensions, etc. on your web browsers. 2, MALWAREBYTES: http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ This freeware programs will remove any malware, and other nasties. In the install, UNCHECK the Trial Pro version, you want the freeware version, run a FULL scan, delete ALL results, reboot. Here are more tips to speed up Windows 7: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/10things/10-ways-to-speed-up-windows-7/3332 Usually the machine slows due to the owner's input and the owner can speed it up doing some routine maintenance.

1) download, install, run, MALWAREBYTES at : http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ Run a FULL SCAN delete ALL results. 2) download, install, run, CCLEANER at : http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ Run to clean the junk from your system. ALSO in TOOLS, STARTUP you can disable programs for starting at windows start which will speed up your machine. Delete/ Disable ALL toolbars on IE broswer they kill your speed. Try using Google Chrome as a 2nd. web broswer. Here are more tips : http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2364937,00.asp

My laptop freezes after start up. I start the computer and it runs normal until right after log in. I have roughly 30 seconds to 1 minute after logging in before the fan turns on and the laptop starts...

when was the last time your computer worked fine? run system restore and choose a restore point prior to when the issue started. if no restore point is available, open run and enter 'msconfig', go to startup and disable unecessary startup programs. also open the prefetch folder and delete its contents. then restart your system. if it's still slow, i suggest you backup your files and reinstall windows. make sure that you operate the laptop on a flat surface to avoid any ventilation blockage. hope it'll help. good day. =)'

My HP Pavilion dv4000 laptop is running insanely slow

you may have a trojan / virus yes it will take forever to fix and restore by add remove./ /slowness/ Two things you can do new installation / lose all information. or you can go into choice menu while rebooting tap F8 key repeatedly if its not F8 ,F10, key or F6 key you will know when your there, at top of screen ,your first choice will be SAFE MOOD etc... use arrows and good to last known config that worked and press enter. now if that works and computer is still a mess hit programs asseriories system tools restore , create restore point and click on the calender, and pick a earlier date. if you do this correctly the computer will do the rest and reboot and restore .ALLOW COMPUTER TO DO ITS THING IT MAY GO BLANK, JUST LEAVE IT ALONE AND IT WILL BOOT UP BY IT SELF ONCE ITS COMPLETED IT CAN TAKE TIME. GOOD LUCK freddiemccly@yahoo.com

I have a acer aspire 5515 and all of a sudden it is running very poorly and slow

I am assuming that you are running windows on this machine.

The problem could be spam ware or registry errors. I would try these steps and see if it helps to speed it back up.

First Back up your data!

Next check your antivirus software to make sure it is updated and scan the machine completely.

I would then try downloading some spam ware remover software from Adaware or spybot. A lot of times when I have computers that are running slow at work scan them and find a lot of hidden spam ware that accumulates from the internet Removing this spam ware will make it run faster.

I would also recommend, after running the spam ware removal software, and anti virus software, running CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ it is free and will scan your registry for errors due to installations and installations that have taken place over the years.

Also you may need to run the defragmenter from CCleaners web site as well. I find it works better than the included one in windows.

I you do this and it does not help you can try backing up your data and reinstalling windows from your recovery disks. If you do a fresh install and it is still slow you will have to look at sending in your laptop for repair.

I hope these steps help.

Slow Slow Notebook (Acer Travelmate 290 CL51)

Well, upgrading the ram COULD help, firstly before spending any money run a disk defrag by right clicking the drive and going to tools, also note that their may be viruses on the computer so downloading AVAST and running the preboot scan would help ALOT. the easiest way is to run a recovery but you would need either the recovery discs or a fresh windows install disk (preferably xp) that should do the trick my friend, if you have any issues please let us all know
