D-link dwl-g122 - Driver software downloaded but won't boot

Ok, this is driving me insane.
I have downloaded the drivers from about 5 different sites (all the same files nonetheless-just to be sure) and all of them install correctly, give me the "restart computer" message (which I accept), then when it's time to actually start up the drivers, the software begins to start itself up, then closes itself. I can actually see this happening through the task manager. The software boots for a split second, then dies.

This is truly weird. It used to work on this same exact computer before I sent it in to be repaired and - to the best of my knowledge, only my video card was replaced. The hard drive was wiped clean before I sent it back (a last ditch attempt to make the computer work) but its still the same one - just that I have to reinstall everything. So why the hell doesn't it work?

Just for the record I'm running Windows XP. Maybe it's a problem with Windows?

What does it mean when Windows XP doesn't accept the folder that the software driver is in? I've downloaded the D-Link wireless driver from a few different locations and placed it in the directory and then tried to load from that file, but to no avail. XP doesn't recognize that the folder has a driver in it.

Ok
what you can do is just install the drivers and not the whole software utility,
what you can do is uninstall the drivers and restart the computer,
download the drivers again donot install it,plugg in the card once you plugg in the card,
you will get a popup that will tell you to install the software, just follow the setup and when it tells you to install the drivers, just browse and install the drivers where it is stored in the computer, and once the installation is over, restart the computer and use the windows zero configuration to connect to the network.....this steps should help you...

I have lost my cd for D-Link DWL-G122

I searched the web site and did not see a way to re-order the software. However you can download the drivers and burn it to a disk. Just click the following link
http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=DWL-G122
which will take you to your product within that window you will have to select Support Resources and choose the exact model of your adapter.
