It is not catching the network since it has been purchased
I have purchased a handset of Sony Ericsson S-302 from AIKON Fonetik,L-92,Munirka,New Delhi-67 Ph:-011-41670267 on 18.1.09 vide Cash Memo No.3772. But it is not working satisfactorily since its purchase. I have visited to the above shop from where I purchased it so many times but no fruitful result comes. On 8.2.09 I again visited the shop and after hard persuation he finally said that it is not searching net work. I want that my above hand set may kindly be got changed as it has not worked for a single day.

But is this handset able to use your sim?
You say the phone is brand new so where did you get it?
Most new phones have software on them that only allows them to be used with ONE network.
So is this handset on your network or has it been "Unlocked" so that it can be used on any network?
If your handset was purchased from a mobile phone shop they would have told you which network it is on eg T mobile.
This means that if your Sim you wish to use in this handset is 02 it will not work in your shiny new handset. All it will allow you to do is "Emergency Calls"
Or maybe it was purchased from somewhere like ebay and NOT from a reputable trader.
This could mean that the phone has in fact been stolen and the owner has registered it as stolen to their network.
If this is the case the handset would be BLOCKED from accessing ANY network so again would give you the "Emergency Calls" only option.
If you are sure that your phone is brand new and legal you can always have it "Unlocked" so that your sim card WILL work in it.
Phone repair shops or phone unlockers will be able to "Unlock" this for you for a small fee.
Maybe not the information you really want to see but I have to tell you all possible reasons. SORRY!!!
Thanks for using FixYa. Please check the sim card first because it might not be making good contact to the prongs. It's not the phone causing the ‘no network coverage’ issue, it's either the sim needs to be removed and wiped off with a soft cotton material and then reinserted or it's the network having problems itself. Also try the sim card in another phone. If it works, then the problem is with the handset. If the sim doesn't work in another handset then contact your network provider to get the sim replaced. If it is still under warranty you'll need to take it back where you purchased it from to get it repaired or replaced. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance. Thanks Rylee
hi for a total handset replacement if u are in warranty period u can claim this with the purchase bill in any of the sony ericsson authorised showrooms.. and they will replace u with new handset... thank u rate me!!!
The reason why the phone is asking for a code is because its detecting a new sim. It's asking for a security code- every brands of phone has it for security everytime you insert a different simcard. If you surf at website of ZTE, try to log at their URL for security code reference. I'm kinda not familiar for the security code of your phone. Unlike Nokia handsets, its default security code is 12345. For Sony Ericsson, its 0000.

You can go to a consumer court, which is quite easy. I had a similar problem for a phone I had bought, C510. Within one week the USB port became faulty. They refused to replace the phone, but when I said I am going to the consumer court to a call center guy that I had talked to, they had called me up from their side and sent the phone in two days. A new phone.
Go to your service provider's website, it may have a number you can text something to, to get the settings for your handset. Different handsets require different settings and they vary from model to model.
