I doubt there is a quick fix for your problem. If I remember correctly SONY had issues with the overwriting heads starting with the second generation of MD player/recorders. The issue was that over time the
flexible circuit board (or cable if you will) develops hair cracks causing
intermittent to total failure of the writing functions.

You can easily test for that. Put a MD with some music you don't care for into the player/recorder, attempt to record a track. When finished writing TOC, try to play this disk. If it seems blank then you have an issue with the overwrite head.

At this point it gets very tricky to repair by yourself in particular if you feel uncomfortable with this delicate stuff. The best option would be to find a new player/recorder.

Another option could be you have a look hover at, there is a forum were people discuss issues like that. May be they can help with source of spare parts and step by step instructions.

Hi iown a sony- mds je 330, how can i transfer from md to computer?

Sony has a free program called Sonic Solutions. It stinks to high hell. But it is free.

I strongly suggest you either play the MDs into your computer via the LINE IN, or buy a Behringer UCA202 USB Audio Interface from Amazon for $30 and input the audio digitally via the USB.

That's how I do it.

Is it an MDS-JE530? Do you have a minidisc in it? If yes, then unplug the unit. Slide the little switch from TIMER "OFF" to "PLAY", then plug the unit back in. After 10 seconds, it should turn on and start playing the minidisc. Let me know if that works or if we need to try something else, okay?

Can't plug optical cable on MDS-JE500

optical will work any way you connect................connect mini out( play mode) to cd-r rec (in) recording or cd player (out) to mini (swithch to record, optical/line in/mic) the optical cable you have should work if all connection are fitted well. i record cd to mini using optical and vice versa all the time. just make sure you are connected correctly to what you wanna do

Sony MDS-E10 has been dropped. need schematics to solve problem.

Your service shop would need to purchase the service manual (if available). The problem here is that without seeing the unit, I can;t tell you whether the optics are bad or the tracking head is bad or the loading mechanism is defective. None of those options are cheap. Let me look into this a bit and see what I can find. I will try to get you part numbers at least with costs.

NO sound from my sony mdx-c8200

I had the same problem before with the same unit, and I found that the problem was only the recording format, you have to record your MDs in SP mode, this is because, the mdx-c8200 is a non MDLP MD compatible unit. So, if you want to listen your MDs on your mdx-c8200 just don t record em in LP mode, just SP mode.
