Question about Sony VAIO VGC-LS30E Desktop PC

Scrambled keyboard All the keyboard keys are scrambled--typing the wrong key/function. Nothing was spilled on it, and I have restored it back a few days. It was working fine, and then the next time I tried to use it, everything was scrambled. It doesn't matter if I reboot, etc. My Sony Vaio keyboard just started having the same behavior. It is a Sony branded wireless keyboard and mouse pair. The mouse works fine. Booted up the other day and the key mapping is all messed up and it randomly reads the keyboard as if a key is being pressed down. Tried hooking up an USB keyboard that I use with another computer and it had the same behavior on the Sony. I am running Vista, nothing new was installed, no driver updates applied, etc. Can someone please help me debug this problem? A restore didn't help either.

Trying to do a restore of a system image using file history WIN 10. Every time I try this or a system reset, a screen appears which asks me to choose my keyboard layout. How do I select a choice?

in the settings or properties of the keyboard you will find a list of keyboard lay outs
one is british(english) which puts the letters in different positions to an American ( english ) keyboard
If I remember rightly , the list includes keyboards in different languages
select the one suitable for your language ( be careful between the british and american layouts ( both known as qwerty boards) as certain keys and key functions will be different
select what you want, apply and ok

Keyboard dont type

No matter how careful you may be, knocking a cup of coffee or spilling a glass of soda over your keyboard may happen. This does not, however, mean the end of your keyboard. If you act quickly, you may be able to fix your wet keyboard to avoid any corrosion of its electronic components or any short circuit which might render it unusable. By following a few recommendations, you should be able to fix your wet computer keyboard.

Unplug the keyboard from your computer immediately after the spill to avoid any corrosion or short circuit. If you spilled water over your laptop's keyboard, turn your computer off by clicking on "Shut Down" on "Turn Off" in the start menu, unplug the power supply and remove the battery. Turn the keyboard upside down and shake it to remove most of the water from it. Take a hair dryer and set it to its lowest temperature setting. Use it to dry any water which might remain under your keyboard's keys. Wait at least 12 hours before plugging your keyboard into your computer again. If your computer is a laptop, wait 12 hours before turning it on again. For Other Liquids Disconnect the keyboard from your computer immediately after the spill to avoid any short circuit or corrosion. Turn your computer off by selecting "Shut Down" or "Turn Off" in the start menu, remove the battery and disconnect the power supply. Place paper towels on a table, turn the keyboard upside down and shake it over them to allow most of the liquid to fall down. Take a few clean paper towels and wipe the liquid off your keyboard's keys. To clean between the keys, you can also use cotton swabs with just a little bit of water. If the liquid which you spilled over your keyboard contained a high amount of sugar, such as soda or sugared coffee, you might have to remove some of your keyboard's keys to clean the surface under the keys with paper towels or swabs. You can do so by lifting them gently with a screwdriver or by using a key remover, which you can find in some IT stores. Wait at least 12 hours before using your keyboard again. If your computer is a laptop, wait the same length of time before turning it on again. My number 1 key on the numberpad is stuck

Step 1:
What sort Of stuck ?

A stuck key on a keyboard is one of those annoying things. The typical desktop keyboard has about 104 keys, a laptop keyboard has a few less. The problem of a stuck key can be a hardware or a software problem or the key itself might be the culprit.

Hit the key several times. This will almost always unstuck a key. Clean the keyboard with an approved keyboard cleaner. These often come as wipes. People sometimes spill food and drink that can make keys sticky. Pop the keys out using a small knife or flathead screwdriver. Most keys pop right out and can be pushed right back in place. Look for something that might be blocking the key and remove anything you find.

Vostro 1520- keyboard stuck on randomly repeating keys after small liquid spill.. no liquid inside, only a few drops on keys and it won't type right. Tried USB keyboard but it won't override the...

short of replacing the keyboard, there is not much you can do. If not killer expensive, then you could at your own risk put isopropal alcohol inside the tray - move around and then turn upside down. this will be easier on the electronics and may dissolve the liquid depending on what it is. If the viscocity is too high, then it wont work but worth a try.

I have a hp desktop computer model number p6404y and when i was listening to my music i would usually just skip through songs using my fn key and pressing f8 to get to the next song, but when i press it...

Hello Stanlee,
First we have to look is there any problem with the particular fn keys in your keyboard,
- To do that go to 'Start > Accessories > Accessibility > On-Screen Keyboard,
- Tey using the not owrking fn key in the 'On-Screen Keyboard'
- If it work there is a problem with your keyboard, IF NOT

Was the issue occurred after doing any changes to the computer, try doing a system restore. Follow these steps:

- Click Start, type 'system restore' in the Start Search box OR 'All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > In the System Restore dialog box, click Choose a different restore point, and then click Next.
-
3. In the list of restore points, click a restore point that was created before you began to experience the issue, and then click Next.
-
Click Finish.
-
The computer restarts, and the system files and settings are returned to the state that they were in at the time that the restore point was created.

Sony vaio pcg k 15 notebook beeps on starup

If you hit some keys and then it starts - it indicates a stuck key on the keyboard. Check the keys to make sure they are all fully up and nothing has been spilled on them or gotten stuck under them. Keys can be removed usually by prying gently under the edge and replaced by pressing down firmly. Probably what is happening is the if a program opens and you see a series of 4's is that the "4" key is the one sticking partially and preventing boot up. The beeeep is simply to tell you something is wrong with hardware, ie: keyboard, mouse, memory will all generate a long beep or several short beeps. The owners manual will list beep codes to help you determine where to look to find the problem.

Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Keyboard 1.1 not working

Could be spyware or a virus. Try this.........If this does not help let me know.

Turn the system restore off. System restore keeps everything in restore. Meaning......... If you have spyware or a virus, it will stay in your system. Run Spybot S&D (This program is free and is better than using msconfig as long as you go through the settings and change everything to the highest settings.) Then do the same with Adaware 2008 (sounds stupid to use 2 things for spyware, but one catches what the other one does not.). I have links on my website (tandnfamilyelectronics-online.com). These links go directly to the download so you will not get the run around. You would do good to try a program called Window Washer. This is a great program that completely cleans anything in your computer that you do not need. It will not clean out anything that you have to have. I have used this for years to clean out my customers computers and have cleaned as much as 3 gigs of trash out. If you contact me I will give you some tools that I have for free that will do a great job on your computer. I have them ready to download and I will give you the link. Certain keys won't function on keyboard

Could be that the connector from the keyboard to the mainboard is crooked. Try taking the keyboard off and wiggling the connector from the keyboard to the board so that it is a snugger fit.
