Question about LG DLE2512W Electric Dryer
Hi. I have a Kenwood KVTiW Tumble Dryer. I recently replaced the belt , thanks to help received on here. However , the new one has snapped after only a few uses. Can anyone give me a pointer as to the likely cause of the problem ?
(I think the original belt snapped because a zip on a garment got jammed inside the dryer and stopped the drum rotating but no idea what has caused this one to go so quickly.)
Perhaps the zipper caused sleeve damage where the drum interfaces with the sleeve. Check for free rotation issues and periodic noises when rotating the unit by hand. Here are a couple of other possibilities: When old belt was replaced the belt was misaligned (not perpendicular) to the drum. When removing ore installing the drum there was a loss of sleeved material that the drum rides on. When replacing the drum into the sleeve and closing the drier up sleeve is not flush, something did not fit together quite right. Remember very small alignment problems will be magnified 3 fold on the clearances of the sleeve to drum. And lastly the motor bearings could be starting to slide in the bearing raceway which can intermittently stop the motor briefly, doing this will also snap the belt. Check to make sure that the motor turns freely when the belt is not on. Spin it in both directions to ensure that there are not any problems. Once you get it all back together check rotation of the drum by hand, there will be some tension but it should move, if not retrace your steps.
TIP OF THE DAY--
To reduce the suction draft and drying time your drier and save some cash, remove the lint catcher and take it to the sink. Run water into it, if there is excessive pooling of the water (water not runnig straight through then fabric softener is fouling the lint screen. Use a small brush and dish detergent to clean it and then shake off all the water and dry the screen. This wont really fix the main condition, but it will not hurt. Remember this tip on future driers and you will make the dryer blower motor last much longer.
Best of luck.
