Windows run doesn't keep my work history

you have to physically save any work
save the history to a usb drive in case you have computer failure

Plug the flash drive into your computer's rectangular-shaped USB drive.

Wait for Windows to recognize the system.

Windows operating systems use "plug and play" technology, which means that computer peripherals like USB flash drives can be recognized instantly by the system without further need for device configuration.

Open the drive on your computer.

Open the "My Computer" directory if using Windows XP or the "Computer" directory if using

Windows 7 or Vista. Locate the flash drive letter and icon under the section named "Devices with Removable Storage." Double-click the flash drive icon to open it.

Transfer files to the flash drive.

Click the "Restore" button in the top-right corner of the "Computer" or "My Computer" directory to shrink the window so that you can view your computer's desktop background.

Open the folders or locations of the files which you want to save to the flash drive.

Click and drag with your mouse each of the files and folders you want to save to the flash drive over to the empty space in the "My Computer" or "Computer" window.

Release the mouse button to let the files "drop."

Close the windows and directory locations when finished.

Save files directly onto the flash drive. From an open file (i.e. text, spreadsheet, image files. etc.), click the "File" menu and "Save as" option.

Select the "My Computer" or "Computer" directory in the drop-down menu at the top of the "Save As" box. Double-click the flash drive letter under the "Devices with Removable Storage" section.

Click the "Save" button to save the file onto the flash drive.

Close the windows and files when finished

hope this helps

I want to down load multi yahoo messanger in my pc

  • Download and install the regular version of Yahoo! Messenger onto your computer if you haven't done so already. The Yahoo! Messenger download can be found at messenger.yahoo.com or by clicking the link in the Resources section.Open a web browser and go to the shareware site Softpedia or Toggle using the link in the Rsesource section. The link will take you to the site's Yahoo! Multi Messenger download page.Click "Download." Choose a mirror site to download the zip file from and click on it.Click "Save." Click "Computer" and double-click on the "C:" drive. Choose "Program Files" and double-click on the "Yahoo!" file. Double-click "Messenger" and click "Save." This step is important; the Multi Messenger program must be saved in the same file as the regular version of Yahoo! Messenger or it will not work Click "Open" when the download is completed. Click "OK" to allow Winzip to unzip the program file.Double-click on the "Set-Up" file. Click "OK" to open the set-up wizard and begin the program installation.Click "Finish" when the set-up wizard is complete. Yahoo! Multi Messenger is now installed on your computer and will open whenever you use Yahoo! Messenge

I have a problem with my computer. whenever i open any folder in any drive, the search window opens. what should i do in order to solve this?

This type of problem normally occurs because some virus called ‘PET32.exe’ , or it can also occur due some other virus which disrupt the windows registry.

. Open Start >> Run or press Window Key + r , this will open the run prompt.

    2. Type “regedit” ( without quotes )and press Enter.
    3. Navigate to key
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell

    4. Double the registry key named Default and set the value to none.

This will restore the normal windows explorer behavior of opening a folder when you double click a folder rather than opening windows search.

If search opens when you double click on any windows drive, then try this

    1. Open Start >> Run or press Window key + r
    2. Type “regsvr32 /i shell32.dll” ( without quotes )and press Enter

After the command run successfully, you will see a message saying DllRegisterServer and DllInstall in Shell32.dll succeeded.

I hope this will help to fix the trouble.

    Opening of drives

I have seen this several times and it is brought about due to a virus that creates an autorun file (autorun.ini).

In this file when you double click the drive, executes the file and in the autorun file exists any of the following: -
    Microsoftpowerpoint.exe
    smss.exe
    .... or many others.

It is good thing that you have a strong antivirus which seems to have removed the viruses and therefore when the information file is opened, it does not find the executables it was supposed to run. That is why it asks for a program to open.

You can prove this by right clicking on the drive to see a shortcut menu and in this menu, the bolded menu will be the action taken when double clicked and the possibility is that you will find Autorun bolded.

To resolve the issue do the following:
    1) Open My computer program or windows explorer.
    2) Right click on the drive and open or explore it.
    3) Locate the file Autorun and delete it. If the file is not shown, from the folder options choose show all files. This is because sometimes this file may be hidden.

Try double clicking the drives again to see if you get he same error.

NOTE: Many virus developers have made possible for people to install/run viruses in there own computers by simply double clicking the drives like flash disk.

Cannot open my D drive by double clicking but it shows the option open with note pad help

You drive has been infected by a virus. but I think you can still open it by not double click rather to right click on the D drive and choose explore from the menu.
But this not the solution save the files somewhere and work out on removing the virus.
