what operating system are you installing.
are you booting from the Cd?
    is the booting option on?
can you use another Cd as this one you are using may be bot booting,
try to use win 98 boo table (a good one), if it boots it means Cd is OK and booting option on.

Try tapping F12 as soon as you turn the system on. Make sure that the CD is inside the CD drive before you press F12. Or if F12 is not the right key to launch you boot options, try to insert the disk, if you see "press a key to continue", then press a key right away. Try another XP CD, if you have one.

How do i restore my acer aspire 5715z to its factory settings without a cd

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
  3. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
  4. After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.

If the ability to reinstall from the previous method is not available or fails, recovery of the Operating System will need to be from Recovery Media. If you do not have a set of Acer Recovery Media, you may purchase the set online from the Acer Recovery Media Order Form.

Acer aspire L320 how do I uninstal and reinstal from back up disc

If you have the restore disk from the Acer Factory it is a fairly simple process. Insert the disk into the CD Tray. Restart the Computer. While is restarting continue to push F12 until you get a Boot Menu. Using the Arrow Keys, navigate to CD/DVD Drive. Hit Enter. It will continue to Load. A Screen will show that says push any key to boot from CD. Hit any key on the keyboard at this prompt. It will load and then you can begin the Re installation tasks.

Acer Aspire 4720z has Broadcom wireless adaptor
I faced the same issue and contacted the Acer Support and download driver for Acer Aspire 7220 and 7520G, which have the same wireless wireless adaptor. IT WORKED!
So, checkout the following two links and download the drivers

Accont losted

Hello,

we have one type of method to solve this problem. but, not regularly.

if you have any other administrator account, you can log in to this and work with your account.

or

if you did not enter any administrator authentication(password), when the windows xp was installed, you can easily manage this.
press CTRL + ALT + DEL keys simultaneously (two times) and type the username as "administrator". then enter without giving a password.

or

you can connect your hard disk with any other hard disk. boot through the other hard disk. then you will see your disk drives on the another disk. Try to delete the "SAM" file on your os (C:\windows\system32\). (Only on your hard disk).
then reboot via your hard disk. now, you have no need to enter any username or password. just enter and go to the windows desktop

if it is not possible for you, just go for password recovery software

thank you,

ACER 4720Z

seems that it's a SATA drive and the drivers are not included in XP.
There are some tools available to include these drivers into the XP CD.
Search the net for 'xp-iso-builder' or 'n-Lite'.

This is not necessary if your laptop's got a floppy drive (i don't think so). Then the SATA drivers can easily be loaded by pressing F6 when booting from the XP CD.
