took your advice and starter to strip compressor motor. impeller is graphite with 4 '' ftoating'' blades, at one point in the rotarion the impeller tightens against the housing because of slightly bent motor shaft? I took out the impeller and sanded it down where it made contact. the fan will now spins freely and so far it lights and runs fine

I have a Reddy Heater 70,000BTU without a thermostat. It will flare off and within a few seconds the fire goes out and then the it trips out. After a few tries it won't even flare off. What might be wrong?

hello. Your reddy heater is dirty and needs a good cleaning. Also, here are a few other possible reasons why it won't operate properly. Pressure not adjusted to 5.1 psi, dirty outlet filter, clogged inlet filter, bad or dirty photo cell, defective reset switch, pump going bad, dirty injector nozzle, dirty fuel filter, contaminated fuel. Check yours out and do what you can to address each area of concern. Regards, Joe

The heater keeps shutting off, i unplug and wait a few minutes, then try again it works for a few more minutes then shuts off again.

Defective thermostat is shutting it down before it reaches the correct temperature. Essentially the thermostat is acting too sensitive.

Finding parts could be tricky probably worth replacing for the potential repair cost.

I have a Lasko Model 5532 electric heater. It has suddenly started shutting off often. I run it through the reset procedure (unplug 5-10 minutes, then restart) and that gets it going again, but then it...

All of these space heaters have thermal protection units in them. They are safety that shuts the unit down if it starts to overheat. If your fan is operating, then it sounds like the thermal protection circuit is faulty, and you'll need to contact Lasko for a replacement. These units do not have parts that can be purchased due to their UL compliance. Check the fan though, it might be obstructed. I have seen that more than once....Rob

All pro heater runs for a couple of minutes.then

it only shuts down because of an overheating condition or the lack of fuel. if you have an ohm or multimeter, check the ohms on the fan and see if you have any resistance. If you do the fan is good but may still not be putting enough air across the heat exchanger to safely alloww the heater to run without causing a fire.

Does this heater have a fan, forced heat? If so, the unit will shut down if the fan is sluggish or stops. It could be getting too hot or the rhermal safety is weak.

The unit runs for a few minutes and completely shuts down

Without the model or make sound like a bad thermostat..check amps the the compressor and voltage... if the compressor is locking up or the thermostat cutting voltage to it..
Hope this helps

Heater/fan issues

There is a safety switch which will shut the heater element off if the fan doesn't run. If the fan doesn't circulate air, the element would overheat and could possibly start a fire, so the switch will shut the element down. I'm not familiar with this heater, but I would check to make sure the fan is operating and also check for any filters that may be plugged and restricting air flow. If anything interferes with the air passing through the heater, the overheat switch will shut down the element. That's the best I can do from here. Good luck.
