This morning when I turned on my iPod there was a long horizontal line from the left to the right side. There is only one and I have dropped my iPod before, but not recently. It is a 120 GB iPod Video Classic. I have reset once before a few weeks ago because the music wouldn't play. I want to know if I can fix it by resetting it.
I got the black horizontal lines across my 80 gig ipod classic video .. and i think this happened after i came back from the gym .. after readin at my multiple places it seems this is due to the water / moisture / likes on the display screen. The other posts suggested that this should go away as the water dries up, i am going to put my pod on charge to generate some heat and remove moisture .. seems leaving it like that is a solution for that ...

It is probably a short in the connector inside the unit going from the screen to the circuit board. You can replace the screen yourself, just have to do some google searching. Also, if you wanted to connect your Ipod to a TV, you can plug an RCA cable into the sound port. You have to have the cable that has three prongs on one end (yellow for video, red & white for sound), the other end of this cable is a 3.5" (headphone) audio plug. Classic iPods export video data from the sound headphone jack!
You need a special 1/8" cord for video output. For example the standard 1/8" cord has 2 black rings on the 1/8 plug, each ring is a channel one for left side and one for right side. You need an 1/8 cable that has 3 rings on the plug, 1 for video, 2 for Left and right audio channels. It dosen't have to be an IPOD brand cable it just needs the 3 black rings.
