Its kind of hard to say exat answer of you question because seems many posibilities so if you are not computer tech just take it to repair shop because its hardware related so bet is not mess up with it.

usually it happens because of many reasons
such as being driver corrupted, not being supplied power properly to tray etc.
good luck

Replace cd player

There are two ways to open the CD/DVD drive door if the button just below the drive tray does not work.
Go to My Computer and right click on the drive and click on Eject.
If this does not work then you can manually open the CD/DVD drive tray by -
Straighten a paper clip and gently insert it into a tiny hole below the drive tray next to the Eject button. Push the paper clip gently until the drive tray pops out, then pull the tray until it is fully out, then you can remove the CD/DVD disc.
If you still having problem opening with the Eject button, then the CD/DVD drive is faulty and needs replacing.

I wanted to add my anti virus via cd to my HP laptop. However, when I closed the DVD tray the cd was not recognised. When I opened the DVD drive, I noticed that the cd would not stay fixed to the little...

The little circular wheel should have several tiny springs around this wheel that hold the CD to this wheel. When you press the CD onto this wheel the CD should lock onto this wheel.
If it does not lock onto the CD then these holding springs maybe missing or broken and this DVD drive needs replacing.

Cd/dvd drive does not open and cd stops in the middle of running

HI

HERE ARE SOME SIMPLE STEPS TO OPEN THE DRIVE.
MAKE SURE THAT SLIDE BUTTON IS AT UNLOCK POSITION

  1. Step 1 Power down the computer. You won't need power for this and when inserting metal objects into the computer it is a good idea to keep it turned off.
  2. Step 2 Take your paperclip and straighten it. You probably won't need the whole thing, but straighten most of it.
  3. Step 3 Look around the front of the drive. There should be a very small hole there (just wide enough for the paperclip). This hole will probably have no markings and seem to serve no purpose.
  4. Step 4 Push the paperclip into the hole. There is a button inside there that will release the lock on the CD/DVD tray. It's pretty far in there so push lightly until the paperclip won't go any further. You'll see the tray move a little.
  5. Step 5 Now you'll need to get that tray open. Use something small and flat like a credit card, screwdriver, fingernails, or a dull knife (the type used to spread butter) to pry open the tray until you can get your fingers around it to pull it open.
  6. Step 6 Pull the tray open. It will give some resistance, but this should not hurt your drive. Get the disc out and close the drive again.
  7. Step 7 Reboot the computer afterwards to reset the drive. This step may not be necessary, but it's usually a good idea to reboot after manually opening the drive to make sure it resets and is able to be used normally again.
I HOPE YOU SUCCESSFULLY DO ........

THANK YOU
