Question about Dell E228WFP LCD Monitor

Monitor blacks out...

My Dell E228WFP 22'' monitor has recently begun blacking out. It only lasts for a second or so and a little yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside it appears in the System Tray. Right-clicking and double-clicking on it reveals nothing.

Faulty Monitor. I tried this monitor on other computers. One using XP and one using vista. Fresh power cords (new) Each did the same thing. On boot it flashes entering power save. I can tell you that your problem will only get worse. Eventually failing. This is the second time this has happened to me Dell did send a replacement after giving me total hell and they will now have to replace their replacement. Contact them hopefully yours is still under warranty. Both of mine (original and replacement ) failed after two months of use.

You could connect it to a different PC to determine whether it's the monitor or video card, corrupted driver, etc....

Let us know how it goes, and we'll try to help.

Dell E228WFP monitor cutting off, goes black

sysjrm, You need to visit YOUTUBE for video clips of "lcd monitor repair" to see if DIY project is what you can handle!!! After you "learn by seeing" some printed circuit "switch-mode-power-supply/inverter boards" having their "aluminum-can" electrolytic filter capacitors replaced and/or "thermally-intermittant" fractured solder-joints "resoldered" then you will be able to make decision on what to do about attempting a repair to your E228WFP! Note!!!! Make certain that your pc is not the cause of your BLACK SCREEN or BLACKnBLANK SCREEN problem/symptom by connecting a "known-good" monitor to your pc first!!! Please read the higher numbered(32 and up) pages in my fixya profile for more information on how to do the simple "flashlight test" for evaluating the state of shutdown that the switch-mode-supply may be in. Also read and follow the links you find in the profiles of "budmrtn" and "buddymc" that are very good ccfl back-lit lcd monitor technicians here on fixya. After you do your web research, remember to come back to this posting and do a comment and rating of this response if you feel that it has steered you in the right direction. Good luck with the repair. 12fixlouie

That is just a backlight lamp problem. It is necessary to service it. take it to a service center or give me more information to say to you how to do it on your own.

Dell monitor e228wfpC, perfect for 15 seconds after computer boots up. Then goes black. Thinking a back light issue. Never have repaired a back light. thanks Trippy

I will assume that you already try this monitor with other PC and still get the same problem. Most failure in monitors are due to bad caps in the power supply, it can also be transformers, transistors, lamps. See example of failed monitors as guide: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see so we can guide you further.

if your purchase just the monitor on 2/28/200, normally dell gives 3 years warranty for the monitor If purchased Separately.

OK.. try doing this call Dell.. 18004563355.. JUST give them the serial number of the monitor ONLY they'll check it out then if your lucky they'll send you a replacement.
