Question about Mitsubishi VS-60805 60" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Mistubishi vs-60805 has to little red lines when turned on.

Hi, i just bought this tv. all works great except it now has two red lines about 2 inches long one on top of the other in the middle of the screen. most of the time you can't see it but there are there. i am hoping this is a simple fix i can do myself. any help or suggestions would be great. also i am looking for a copy of the owners manual. if someone has one in pdf or other digital format that would be great. any answers can be posted or sent to jasonrglass@aol.com.

Thanks. Jason

i am having a hard time getting a picture of the issue. the lines are horizontal abut 2 inches long, and in the exact middle of the screen. they not get worse as the set warms up. they are more pink than red.

here is a close up on the tv. you can see the little red lines. Any help on what is causing these would be great.

Thank you for the help. any idea on how much this might run?

if you cant get the lines out with the convergance adjustment.Your red convergance chip is burning up .try to clean the dust off it and through a fan on it if it get worse as the tube warms up if not your better off looking for another set ,the repair job is around 400.00

    Hello jasonrglass,

If possible can you please post a picture of this problem? The reason I ask is this can be one of three things, and how the picture looks will narrow the possibilities down.

    Thank you,

Hello jasonrglass,

Having looked at the picture you sent, I agree with JEDLIPS your convergence amplifier if about to go bad. The reason the picture was necessary was to make a visual ID of the problem, TV's are very complex systems and to make snap judgments often leads to a misdiagnosis of the problem. However, since this is a convergence amplifier problem the credit for its diagnosis should go to JEDLIPS. There are many reference about this type of problem, here is one such solution just to get you started, but I would prefer that JEDLIPS gets the credit for diagnosis

Here is some advice I posted sometime ago, it applies in your case:
.This denotes a convergence problem as you surmised. Believe it or not it would be cheaper for you to replace the two convergence amplifiers and the biasing resistors. You would not actually be replacing the convergence board since these devices are usually located on the deflection board in most cases. However in answer to your question, the boards are easily removed, depending on your level of patience (lots of cables to move around), I would also advise you to either mark down all of the connection you will remove, or take pictures of the board and its connectors. If you choose to just replace the Amplifiers and the biasing resistors there is a lot of information on this site on how to do so: This will get you started:

1) Unplug the TV and then get a schematic of the TV I use http://www.servicemanuals.net or http://www.manualsparadise.com
2) On the schematic locate the STK392-xxx series IC packs (usually attached to a large heat sink)
3) determine if the STK392s are 110, 120 or 150.
4) if the STK392-xxx's are 110s replace with 110s (forget that upgrade stuff it is a hit or miss game that I don't believe you want to get into), if they are 120s replace with 120s and so on.
5)Now to replace the STKs: remove the module from the TV and unsolder theold STKs along with the bias resistors, and replace them with the newones (be sure to apply heat sink paste to the STKs when attaching themto the heatsink)
6) make sure there are no short circuits form your soldering job.
7) Reinstall the module and then turn on the TV.
8) do manual adjustment and the auto-convergence test and then things should be back to normal.

I hope this helps

Now if you think you can do this have at it, if not I would suggest that you have it done by a qualified TV technician.

Mitsubishi VS-60805 Rear Projection won't operate in HD mode with Cable Box

Since this is an older first generation (1999) HD TV it may not be compatible with newer HDTV receivers because the standards back then were different - Make sure the HD cable box is plugged into the HD component inputs on the back of the TV (not the DVD inputs) and that the menu setting on the TV is set to DTV (not RGB) video. This TV will only accept 480i and 480p signals on the DVD input. Also the HDTV input will only accept 480i,480p and 1080i (it will not work with a 720p signal, make sure your cable box is not set to that mode)

Hi,
Mitsubishi VS-60805 is 1999 model tv and unable to receive digital cable channels because it is equipped with analog tuner that can not receive cable channels because it is almost 11 years old.
You need to hook Cable Box in AV input of tv, plug digital cable in cable box and get digital cable channels in tv. Cable box has its own remote control and inbuilt digital tuner to receive all digital cable channels and widely available in Store, Radio Shake, amazon.com etc.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.
