Question about 3Com NJ220 Networking Switch

3com nj220 central config error response from device

While using the 3com central configuration manager software, I can discover 3com network jacks successfully.

When I open up the Property UI for the network jack, it gives me a "Error Response from Device" error and all 4 ports show as N/A across all fields. When it does this, I can manually click the ports and set them again (they go defaulted to disabled/half-duplex/10Mbps on each port). What is going on with my software that is causing this?

I'm also unable to load valid configuration files to blanket-reconfigure the 3com from known settings. I get "Error loading configuration file" on that screen. Please help.

Found that the problem was in the installation of the service.

There were two .exe in the installation software, one labeled setup.exe and the other "3Com IJNJ Configuration Software.exe". setup.exe is what needs to be used and it will in turn call the other. I had opened the other directly.

How do I configure the OfficeConnect TP800

There is nothing to configure. Hubs simply spit a network connections almost like a TV cable splitter divides cable for separate rooms.

Hubs require a router that manages the network by providing IP and other network management tools.

14. If you type "summary" you will see all the switch details.

Amongst these details are the IP address of the switch. If you have DHCP on your network this switch is connected to it will receive one as in my case below, so I can now configure the rest via a web browser.

If not you can use the "ipsetup" command to set a static management IP and access via a web browser.

What is the defult ip address for access the config page at switchs 3com?

The default IP address of the device, depends on the status of the network where the device resides, but if the device is not connected to the network, or no DHCP server exists in the subnet where the device resides, you can get the default IP address of the device on the label on the right of the device rear panel.

I do not have the password for 10 3CNJ220s I have inherited. Would like to know if there is a way to either "crack" the units or reset them to the original configuration.

the defautl password was "password" on these devices, 3Com no longer sells them but their support site has the software and manuals free to download. Downlaod the Utility software and restore the facotry defaults and simply start over. Good Luck.
