My picture will fade to black and require a manual restart. It happens most frequently when the program goes to commercial. It occasionally happens during programs also. Any help?

Find the vertical IC and check for very small cracks on the solder joints of its pins and resolder (approx. 10 Pins). Also check in the same area for a 1 micro farad at 50 vdc capacitor that goes bad and replace it.

Sony KPR-53EXR15 pictures fades in and out

Sounds like possibly it could be connection related between any AV/Cable ports. Worst case would be the capacitors of the motherboard leaking. It's possible to fix anything. Just make sure you have the knowledge and the right equipment.

Video fluctuations

Is this happening with commercial dvds or disks that you've burned? If it's happening with commercial disks, I would suggest trying the player on a different TV to see if the same thing happens. If it does, something is wrong with the player.

The warranty on the player is 90 days from the date of purchase. A receipt is required for warranty exchange.

Screen faded into black

Yes, usually the tubes in the LCD go dead or another cause of this problem is the LCD inverter board that goes dead. I suggest you take it back to where you bought it or to a sony service centre.
