Re: Setting up Theatre sound to DMR to Sky to TV
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Thge basic idea is to wire the Amstrad Sky box DRX550 as one input of the Panasonic SA-PT160; the Panasonic DMR-EX98VEBK would likewise be wired similarly. The output of the SA-PT160 would then go to the Relisys 42". HDMI maybe used when present.
Additionally, pls post/describe what type of connectors are available at the rear of each unit:
Amstrad Sky box DRX550;
Panasonic SA-PT160; and
Thereafter a wiring diagram could be specifically prepared for you. Would it be safe to assume that you are also considering recording some programs from the DRX550 to the DMR-EX98VEBK?

Look at rear of the Combo and you will observe input and output
RCA connections.Using RCA leads, hookup the Av output of the Panasonic
to the audio/video input of the LCD . Connect the AV output of the Sky box to the AV input of the Panasonic
Connect the sky to the tv using a scart from the one marked tv on the sky box.Connect a scart from the one marked vcr on the sky box to av2 on the dvd.You then select av2 as your record channel on the dvd.
I have this same machine, you did'nt mention what input you are using (composite, S-Video, component or HDMI) or what type of display you have (CRT, LCD, Plasma etc.).
If your T.V. has a HDMI input I recommend using that, if not and it's of fairly recent vintage use the component inputs (not to be confused with composite video inputs, or yellow RCA-type input).or at the very least use the S-Video input.
In the setup menu (on screen) try setting the "TV Screen" option to the 480p setting and if you are using the HDMI input try setting that to the highest resolution your T.V. has or set it to "Auto"
Finally in the on screen video menu select the "Video" setting and set the "Still Mode" option to automatic, and the "Output Level" to lighter or darker whatever your preference is.
Remember...Always use HDMI or component video inputs on your television (if it has those inputs)!
Hope this helps!

Connect the AV output of the Sky box to the AV input of the Panasonic combo.Look at rear of the Combo and you will observe input and output RCA connections.Using RCA leads, hookup the Av output of the Panasonic to the audio/video input of the Sony tv. Power up Appliances, and you should be OK.
