The A940 is not a standalone fax machine, and needs to work with your computer to send and receive faxes. Your computer needs a dialup modem installed and a connection to a phone line, and you need to have fax software installed. The printer actually only works as a scanner to input a document to be faxed, and as a printer to display a received fax. The installation CD supplied with the printer has fax software on it you can install, and other software is available online. This document from Dell (the fax section of the user's guide) may be helpful.
scanner drivers have not been properly installed .it requires fresh installation of software after removink previous install of software.
tell me ur operating system,i will give you steps to uninstall previous software and install new software.as far as fax is concerned, first we have to install drivers, then ur fax issue will be solved
Is the scanner driver installed ?. You can check this by unplugging the USB cable from the back of the printer and connecting it again. If you get any Plug and Play prompts on the computer, install the driver by pointing it to the correct scan driver location.
I presume the print and fax parts work. Can you make a copy? Have you checked the driver software? The CD that came with the equipment usually installs the scanner software as well. try reinstalling the software and see if it works.
the scanner works with the windows built in driver. Uninstall the hole mfc suite and reinstall after restart. This is the fix for the software.
You can check the hardware simply by copying a page. If you can copy there is no hardware prob.
Post here again if it does not work and let me know your windows version, too, please.
