Question about Acomdata 500GB PureDrive USB eSATA 500 GB Hard Drive

Open Question

Mac to PC Transfer

My videographer used my hard drive to store the raw footage of video on it. It was a brand new drive and he I'm assuming formatted it as a Mac drive and therefore when I open on my PC i cannot receive the files.

Is there a way to get these files off the hard drive and onto a PC when the files are 13-19GB in size?

I downloaded MacDrive program but it will not copy the files but it will open using quicktime.

Thanks

SOURCE: i'm not able to access my external hard drive from

I am having the same issue with my mac mini and I am seeing a lot of posts saying the same. All I did was move the Acomdata HD from one room to another. Nothing jarring. Were you able to resolve this issue? In addition, by neighbor, who advised this HD has now had the same problem.

SOURCE: working with a mac-formatted G-Speed

Since the drive crashed in the middle of a data transfer it probably has a damaged directory. Try connecting the drive to your Mac and run DiskWarrior on the drive to repair the directory and allow the drive to mount.

How can I recover lost footage from security cameras

I assume there should be a hard drive connected to the security camera, right? So the lost footage was initially stored in the drive. You can connect the drive to a computer and run a video recovery program on it. If you appear to be a Mac user, just give this data recovery app a try. http://www.leawo.org/photo-recovery-mac/

How to transfer 57 gigs from a mac to firelite xp.

The hard drive maybe formatted in Windows NTFS format and the MAC cannot see this formatted hard drive.
If you only wanr to use this hard drive on a MAN then you need to format this hard drive with your MAC.
If you want to exchange files between your MAC and a PC then you need to format the hard drive on a PC in FAT32. The MAC can read and write to a FAT32 formatted hard disk.

Hi I have a quick question. after I have been downloading my pictures from my camera to computer, I am not able to edit them or download them onto any websites. is this an error w/my camera or computer?

You did not state which computer or software you are using to edit your video, bu the general consensus is the raw footage has to be "unwrapped" from its compressed form (video gets compressed to fit on SD card) so that it can be editable with your software. Otherwise, editing the footage will be difficult. I use a Mac and FCP. My workflow is - after moving the files from my SD Card to my ext. hard drive, I batch load them into MPEG Streamclip (free software for PC and Mac). Then I choose Apple ProRes 422 (LT) to transcode my raw footage. After waiting for the process to finish (minutes to hours, depending on how many files you batch load), I import my files into FCP and everything works great. No more issues. Also, if you are working on a Mac, iMovie will accept your Rebel.mov files without issue. iMovie unwraps the footage with the Apple Intermediate Codec automatically and editing in iMovie is so simple that it makes me want to smack myself for not trying it sooner after editing on FCP for the last 10 years.......

When you want to exchange data between MAC and a PC the the storage device/flash drive must be formatted in FAT32 by the PC.
The MAC can read and copy FAT32 PC files, but if you format the storage device/flash drive that has been formated with the MAC, then only the MAC can read/write to this drive.

My Freeagent external hard drive doesn't show up on My Computer

Your Mac would have formatted the Seagate drive as HFS+ (journaled) format. If you have access to a Mac, copy your data off the Seagate to any Mac, then use your PC to reformat the Seagate drive in FAT32 format. Macs recognize FAT32 format, and can store data in it, but can't create the format. The Mac holding your data can store it on the Seagate in the FAT32 format, and you can then copy the files to your PC. Hope this helps.

Cannot copy large files onto my WD passport

Your drive is probably in FAT32 format.  FAT32 has a 4GB file limit that is why your 5GB movie isn't saving.  You will have to format the drive in Mac OS file format (HFS) using Disk Utility.
Unfortunately once its in Mac format the drive will not be recognized by windows PCs.  What I do is have a program called macdrive installed on my windows computers so that they can access mac format hard drives.
i hope this helps!

Transfer footage from DVD to Computer for editing

I use ISO Buster to read the AVCHD footage into my computer and then edit with Pinnacle Studio. With ISO Buster, you place the 3" AVCHD DVD into your regular DVD Rom drive on your computer and it will rip the raw files directly from the disk. You cannot transfer the movies from the DX1 to Pinnacle or any other editor using the USB cable.

My usb flashdisk become raw data

1). Do not format this hard drive before you've recovered all your stored data back. In your case, the formatting process may erase everything on your drive and make your data gone permanently.
2). Never save anything new on this drive in case that any new file would rewrite your original data.
3). Plunge this drive to your computer and download a RAW drive data recovery freeware to get back all your lost data back:
http://www.freeware-fix.blogspot.com/2013/02/raw-hard-drive-recovery.html
This hard drive has helped many people around me restore their inaccessible data back from a RAW drive or memory card. It can also work perfectly on your drive.
Read more detailed information of this freeware here:
http://blog4mark.blogspot.com/2012/10/help-external-drive-became-raw.html
4). Save and back up all your restored data on another drive in case of data recovery failure.
5). Format this drive to see whether it is fixable.
