While this is true, I still would not give up my Citizen HA. The dive
log/graph function is a knock out. I already have a computer, two in
fact, but they don't download, graph dives, etc. My Citizen is
approaching its first birthday and there are no problems so far.

I also have a couple of Seiko Sports watches, not the one advertised as
a dive watch, which work fine. On the other hand, they cost about twice
what I paid for the Citizen.

be appreciated.

The CASIO G-shocks do good, too. Usually $45-50 at places like Walmart.
I had one that I used for years, for everday use and dives as deep as 130
ft. It also survived a battery change. The plastic/rubber wristbands did
wear and rip. Finally the plastic case got hit and peeled back. Now it
looks bad, but still works. I bought another one for evey day and use the
old one for diving.

If you have money to burn, the Citizen aqualand looks good, but I've never
spent the $$ for one. (For what they sell for, just add a few more bucks
and get a full dive computer.)

I had a $70 Bonica digital that served me well for several years
before it finally died of old age. I feel better having a backup
timer for my computer.

For me, the best for cheap is the Timex Ironman. I found one in
30 feet of water, and it was still running. I didn't use it diving,
but it continued to run for two years before the battery ran down.

A couple of weeks ago I found another Ironman, this time at 100
feet. This one wasn't running, but I figured the battery could
have been dead; the watch had a stainless steel band (the first
one was plastic) and it was a bit discoloured, so it has probably
been down there for some time. I slipped the watch over my arm
and continued down to 130 feet.

Later, I took the watch in to a jeweler. He found a bit of
moisture inside, but cleaned it up and put in a new battery.
It's running just fine, and I took it on another dive the
other day.

I know you're supposed to use watches rated to 200m for diving,
and these are only rated to 100m. But the price was right.

Good old Timex. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking
(or whatever it is they do these days).
