Hello bdedrick708,

If what you are trying to say is that you have a 1/4 inch horizontal line across your screen, this means that something in your vertical deflection circuit has failed. This could be the vertical oscillator, the vertical output processor, the vertical coupling capacitor, or the vertical section of the yoke transformer.

If what you are talking about is a vertical line from top to bottom then you are possibly talking about a failed horizontal section of the yoke transformer.

Why so little about the horizontal section of the yoke? That is because if the horizontal section fails completely then you would lose high voltage and no line would be present because you would not have raster (screen light).

In any even check the yoke transformer first. Then work back from there.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

You better brace yourself!!!!! Your TV is heading into a tale spin. This particular model will eventually shut down. You will a Horizontal timing kit installed. The syncs are not correct. Also there will be many solder rings to be reworked. But this is what you will need to fix this guy! The part# I have is an old#. But will cross.Part#4835 310 57673 is what you are looking for. Call Andrews Electronics at 1 800 274 466 or Fox parts at 1 800 370 6369. You will need a tech to do the job. There is a surface mount mosfet that will need to be installed as it is very very small. There are about five parts will need to be replaced and they are in this kit. Good Luck. PS this TV is actually one of the best made by philips! And the repair is an authorized upgrade!

My 15 year old Toshiba Televisiononly shows a narrow horizontal band in the middle of the screen. Sound OK.

Hiii fairley,

You aren't specsificly dercribe yor tv set.
For common TV horizontal problem ;i.e : White line accross the horizontal screen, horizontal band,etc..it's can solved by replacing the IC Vertical/Transistor, and olso to replace the cap nearest the IC.

For common TV Vertical Problem :i.e : White line at the center of the screen (top to bottom),Vertical band,etc...It's can cure by Replacing the Horizontal IC/Transistor,and offcurse the cap's.

Tha's what all I know....

Hope can help you to solved the problem.

Thank's

Hello! You have vertical collapse. There are bad solder connections at the vertical output IC. I have repaired MANY panasonic tv's like this. Very easy to repair if you have any soldering experience. If soldering does not fix the problem you need to replace the vertical IC. Good luck

Toshiba TV CX2789K Horizontal Line

Failure in the vertical deflection amplifier section. This is usualy from failed components, and sometimes cold solder connections. Most of the time, I found bad capacitors, and sometimes the output IC or transistors (depending on the model type) that have failed.

Take the set to a service center for an estimate. You may find it more feasible to buy a new set depending on the parts that failed and the time involved to do the work.

This problem indicates a defective vertical IC or dry solder joints on the IC connections.

Horizontal 'pinstripe' lines on all channels

sound like the screen control on the flyback is set just a little too high. the flyback has the red wire attached to the tube. the flyback has 2 small adjustable controls. if you look close enough 1 is marked focus & on is screen. turn the screen slightly to the left & look at your picture. the screen is like a master brightness & if it's up too high you will see what is called retrace lines. good luck.
