Background noise from webcam

Hello,
My brother is using a VX3000 but I am having a lot of trouble hearing what he is saying. We are using windows live messenger.
There is a huming noise similar to a constant note on a digerydoo.
The noise increases in volume if he turns up the mic volume.
He is using vista on a tower system with the cam normaly on top fof the monitor.
All electrical things have been moved etc. Picture is fine.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Tom

Hi I managed to get him to take the camera apart and he moved the wires to the microphone. This seems to have fixed the problem for now.

    Thanks

    Tom

I had a similar situation. I have another capture card installed on my computer. I disabled the onboard device through Device Manager and then downloaded and installed the Newest version of the lifecam software, ver. 2.04, and then restarted the system. I also connected a microphone and used that rather than the mic built into the camera. So far, the loud white noise has not returned.

Good luck. I hope this helps and please let me know how it works out.

My webcam is not working with live messenger. I

Here's a suggestion. You may be able to free it from use by whatever is using it in the background by going into the Task manager by pressing Ctrl +Alt + Del and going to the processes tab. Then go to the process for the camera. It may or may not be obvious (might say lifecam or something like that) and then end the process. Ignore the warning. Then go ahead and try the live messenger and see if that works.

A video call can be heard but not seen on the other end.

You do not say if your brother only has the problem when talking to you.

Tell your brother to open Skype
Click 'Options'
Click 'Video settings'
Under 'Automatically receive video and screen sharing from...'
Make sure 'no one' is unchecked select 'anyone' for a trial.

Webcam, lot of not hearing each other.

Normal 0 See section C. Windows Live Messenger in the info below to setup the Audio & Video.
Also send this to your family and friends so they have there computer setup properly.
Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.
A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
  4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and her to you.
  1. Windows Live Messenger:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=d78f2ff1-79ea-4066-8ba0-ddbed94864fc&displaylang=en

  1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
  2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
  3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
  4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.
NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope this helps. Bud

Background Microphone Noise

The problem is that your microphone is generation feedback when the talk because you have the speaker volume turned up. Try lowering the volume. If this doesn't work I suggest you use a set of headphones and it will eliminate this problem completely.
Hope this helps. Bud
