I have lost my manual, and I cannot see where the battery may fit, I take it is a small battery.

This is going to require service / repair at the shop, not something you will be able to correct.

My s7000 batterries do not last very long i am wondering if something is draining them down

PRESS RELEASE
Release Date: 12 January 2004

Fujifilm today announced that a number of early FinePix S7000 Zoom digital cameras may experience battery power depletion when used with some CompactFlash™ memory cards.

This fault does not occur when the S7000 is used with either an xD-Picture Card™ or a Microdrive™, nor does it occur in any other Fujifilm products that offer a CompactFlash™ storage facility, such as the FinePix S2 Pro, S602, S602 Pro or M603.

Cameras with serial numbers above 34L60001 (inclusive) were produced after 15 December 2003 and therefore will definitely not experience this battery drain problem.

In the short term, the problem can be avoided by unloading then re-loading the batteries just after the camera is switched off. The camera's power supply will then perform normally.

I have a Fuji Finepix S7000 digital camera. I works fine, but, when the batteries get discharged, the camera looses all the "setup" info (date, time, etc...)... Is there an internal battery or something...

There is no internal battery. When the batteries become discharged or removed, the camera retains the date/time settings for about 24 hours. Most people have backup batteries fully charged so when one set is low in the camera, they can make the change quickly.

S7000 finepix switches itself off when external power is plugged in

I am using Fuji Finepics 7000 for the last 4 years & took approx. 35,000 photos in Australia. Try not to plug in external power when camera is using internal batteries. Switch it off, plug in the external power cable & then switch it on. BYE aqeelhafeez@hotmail.com

Battery Drain

have a look:

I suggest using XD cards. Depending on the age of your camera there may be a factory fix available to improve this issue, you'll have to contact the Fuji repair center.

The manual states there is some small constant drain by design but 70mA seems high. There is no internal battery to retain the date, but with 2+ hours of the batteries inserted (or power supply attached) it is supposed to retain data/time for up to 24 hours (internal capacitance holds it). If you have a CF draining that will probably use all of the stored energy up though causing the date/time to be lost. Try it with the CF pulled out if that is the memory you are using.

Plugging in the adapter will cause a power-interrupt according to the manual. Be sure the camera is off when plugging or removign the supply.

FWIW I have switched to Duracell pre-charged NiMH hybrid cells in my S7000 and the "shelf-life" is much better than typical NiMH, took hundreds of test shots and views over a period of a week and there was still plenty of life in the cells. (They are rebranded Sanyo "enerloop" cells, google them up for more info).

The batteries were drained in my FinePix S7000 camera whthe camera was not in use.

The CompactFlash card may have caused the batteries to drain. Some solid state CompactFlash cards consume power while inserted in the FinePix S7000 even if the camera is turned OFF. Fujifilm recommends removing the CompactFlash card when the camera is not in use. Microdrives and xD-Picture Cards do not exhibit this problem.
