Question about Canon PIXMA iP6700D InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

Black text not printing!

My printer will not print black text, but does color fine. When told to print black text, my printer goes through the motions of printing but the output is completely blank! I have replaced the cartridge even though the first black cartridge was full, and it does nothing.  I don't know too much about printers, so a step-by-step answer would be awesome. Please help!
Thanks

On my MP600 the ink carts are lit up red when you lift the glass platen. Is that the same with your model?

Are they all lit up correctly?

Also, can you display the ink levels either on the printer, on the PC, or by printing a status page?

Finally, is there anything blocking the cart, piece of paper etc?

Have you removed the tape covering the cartridge inkjets?

Is this a new printer (to you) or have you had it a while (so are familiar with it)?

You need a new printhead, QY6-0063-000. The instructions are packed with the new printhead.

I have 5150 it has full black cartridge not much color almost out I want to print in black and it will not goes trough the motion not print though just light blue.

Your description of the problem means that in your word processor you have specified color printing. Here you must change it to B&W. Then it will print black. Also do the same in Print manager.

Black ink

The PGBK cartridge is a pigment black ink, while the others use a dye for coloration. The pigment black is used when printing text and other documents. The dye ink is used when printing photos and other colored documents. The dye black is used in conjunction with the color (dye) inks to provide tinting and color gradation, and therefore is not used nearly as much as the pigment black unless you use your printer only for printing photos.

If you're printing text and documents, you will need to buy another pigment black (PGBK) cartridge.

Sounds like your print head went bad. You will have to buy another one.

Cartridge/Printer problem - very weird (HP PSC 1315)

quiet easy you have to change you print selection to all or everyday printing that way it will print both color and black all together instead of not this and that

Printer will not print black ink

Chewbacca08's solution gave me an idea. I set the print setting to photos paper (even though I was trying to print on plain paper) and IT WORKED. It's worth a shot before you trash a perfectly good printer.
