Question about Nintendo DS Lite Console

DS Lite Won't Work Until it "Warms" Up- Like 15 mintues

My daughters DS Lite which hasn't been too heavily used will turn on fine but the touch screen will not work at all at first.  Then little by little you can open a game and then you can start playing a bit later and finally all game functions will work.
The battery lasts fine, it works fine when on for a while.
Weird hey?

Err...Is it too late to return the Ds or trade it in for a new one? Because, if it is messed up you can probably return it to wherever you got it. Also, you can probably take it to Gamestop and have them fix it for around 20 dollars.

My daughter has a DS Lite which works fine except the bottom left hand of the touch screen does not recognise the stylus - she has to touch the screen 3 or 4mm away from the actual point to make it work....

you could try to recalibrate the screen but unfortunatly sounds like you will have to replace the touch screen. its a very common problem.

My touch pad worked fine last night, but now it doesn't! Help!

well, first you should see if it needs charging. Then turn on the ds and touch the little ds on the bottom of the screen. Go to the calibrate or the thing that is on the right side of the person. Try thr test and dont stop it until its over. Try touching the screen again but if that doesnt work call nintendo which the number is in the manual or find it at www.nintendo.com. See if that works.

My daughter's ds will advance screens on it's own without using the stylus or pressing any buttons and sometimes the stylus is inoperable.

makesure the the sencitivity in your DS options when you turn it on is medium. to configure, just keep touching the squares as hard as you want to touch in the game

Touch screen is blank

I am not sure which DS your daughter has. There is the DS original, lite, etc.

You can try recalibrating the touch screen, to do this follow these instructions:

http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/dslite/en_la/recalibrate.jsp

If this does not help, you may need to send your DS in for service. The problem may be something with the hardware where only professionals should be performing maintenance on.

Give a call to Nintendo's 1-800-255-3700 (6 am - 7 pm Pacific, everyday) Customer Service number, or use their web form ( http://www.nintendo.com/corp/contact.jsp ) to contact them, and they can set up the repair process for you.

DS Lite bottom touchscreen seems "stuck"

i think you should either get a new ds or tap the touch screen hard. if tapping the touch sreen harder does not work then that means it is time for a new ds.

First try to recalibrate the screen (start up the DS, and do the following--text from nintendo.com):
  1. Remove all games from the Nintendo DS.

  2. Turn the system on by pressing the POWER button.

  3. Press the A Button when the "Touch the Touch Screen to continue" message appears.

  4. When the main menu appears, use the Control Pad to to place the cursor over the Settings Menu Panel at the bottom of the screen, and press the A Button.

  5. Use the Control Pad to place the cursor over the orange icon that looks like crosshairs (the right-most icon), and press the A Button.

  6. Use the stylus, and tap the red square that appears on the screen. Do this each time the square moves.

    • You must touch the red square precisely at each of the three positions, otherwise the test will continue to re-start.
    • Ifthe touch screen is not responding properly, hold the Nintendo DS at anangle so that you can see where the edges of the Touch Screen meet thehousing of the system. Look around the entire edge of the Touch Screenfor any foreign material (such as crumbs, etc.) that may be wedged inbetween the Touch Screen and the housing of the DS. Foreign material inthis area can cause the Touch Screen to work incorrectly.
If the screen still does not work, you need to buy a new touchscreen. Many vendors sell these, here's an example:

You will need a good tri-wing screwdriver to do this repair (don't buy a cheap knockoff--they will strip your screws). Try one like this: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-1e-49-en-15-tri_wing-70-1fe.html

Then follow the step by step tutorial at:

Cant play any game

Is this the top screen or the bottom screen? The top isn't meant to react to the stylus.
