Question about Kenmore Refrigerators

1 Answer

Won't stay cold for long

Refrigerator or freezer do not want to stay cold for long. It will stay cold for a while, makes ice then it all melts. Could this be a compressor or freon?
Thanks B

IF your compressor is not pumping correctly that would be your problem. If it where the freon you would not have any cool cause it would leak out and you would get alot of warm air. this sounds like the compressor is pumping but not recirculating

Freezer stays cool but bottom stays warm.

I agree with your analysis, and recommend that you replace that fan between the two sections.

Cannot adjust refrigerator temp (warm) and freezer will not produce ice

There is an ice dam in the freezer port which is preventing cold air from passing into the refrigerator. Remove the bottom panel and melt the ice. Make sure the passageway in the very back of the freezer is completely clear of ice.

My bottom refrigerator is not cold. The freezer is okay.

Check to make sure the fan in the freezer compartment is working and not blocked. This delivers the cold air to the refrigerator. The fan should run every time the freezer calls for cold.

Plz help refrigerator not working properly after transporting it

time to get a new defrost timer or heater element the ice is causing most of the issues. if the freezer is staying cold then there is a fan that blows the cold air into the fridge side that could be out.

Ice on the bottom of freezer

Sounds like your freezer drain is blocked. first, turn the temperature controller up a little bit, maybe one or two stops, then wait 24 hours to see if the ice melts at all. If it starts to go away, then you may need to toss a few towels on the floor next to the freezer because 6 inches of ice melt is gonna make a mess.

After you get that sorted out, turn the temp down one click to make sure that everything is staying cold, and that the ice is not reforming.

good Luck!
