LCD Monitor Shadow Effect
This problem is best described as the LCD monitor "Shadow Effect".
The solution to this very simple. No software or hard ware changes required.
The cables that are connected to the LCD monitors are causing the problem. Its also called as electromagnetic noise or electrical noise.
Solution: Keep the two cables - (power cable and moitor display cable), that are connected to the LCD monitor as far away as possible with each other and also away from other electrical cables.
Thats it. Your shadow effect is fixed.
Thank you.

This solution is pretentious at best, and simply wrong at worst. I have a laptop, and am using the Acer as an external monitor. I don't HAVE a power cable at all.
Your welcome.

Actually, I confess, i misread your solution. You're talking about separating the monitor power cable and the monitor display cable? Really? When pretty much every fifteen pin connection cable is SHIELDED? Sigh... Try again, newbie2000...

I separated the cables and can see the changes. Thanks a lot for sharing this free solution. God Bless You.

My Acer X193w. My monitor comes on and says cable not connected but when I connect the VGA cable the screen goes black even though it is still on.

VGA is an analog connection, so you should connect it to your monitor BEFORE starting up the PC. Otherwise it won't show anything

YOU ARE EXPERIENCING THE EFFECT OF GHOSTING.
iT CAN BE FIXED

cREATE A 1200X1600 100% WHITE .GIF TO USE AS A SCREEN SAVER. (IN WINDOWS YOU CAN ADD IT TO MY PICTURES SLIDESHOW)

Set this slide show to run after 2 minutes of non use.
Set the nonitor to power off in a short amount of non use.
say 15 minutes.
Do that for a couple of days and the ghosting affect will go away . You can then turn to a more reasonable screen saver.

Shadows and Ghosts on the Screen

Plugged up display via the VGA cable to an HP dv6000 laptop; the Acer powered up and displayed fine ... however, noticed a faint waving motion in the picture, as if the screen was literally gel and began to wave, from top to bottom as it appeared. Best I can describe it ... any suggestions as to why? I only connected it to this HP to try it out, I ordered it from newegg and wanted to make sure pixels werent dead on arival. I will be getting an Aurora 7500 (Alienware): AMD X2 6000, Windows Vista Premium, 2GB RAM, GeForce 512 8800GT, SLI ready motherboard ... I heard good things of Acer and hoped this display would look great with my soon-to-come setup and im sure it will. However, just nervous it will do this on my Aurora. Any help or suggestions would be beyond appreciated!!

Did you ever find the problem with this unit? BTW, a crappy video cable can cause this or the input impedance has changed on the monitor due to improper connections.
