Question about HP Pavilion dv9000z Notebook
I have an HP laptop with Vista Home Premium SP1 and it is not recognizing USB drives, reporting that the driver is missing. The USB port is okay and the drive name is visible, but that's all I can see.
Scouring the Microsoft support site I thought I had tracked the problem to a missing infcache.1, which is apparently fixed by the update for KB940199 which I downloaded (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=51f0ef25-280b-4613-a600-c61224bacd1c&displaylang=en&Hash=7QV3sloPZkAgkkTlVGObc4%2fNQVVTMgi%2bVwHJ%2fjEQ4HB4mk%2b7R2fOmOvWswalOLUPL5wl5rwknAAxwTM1mFOD4g%3d%3d).
However, when I run the update the Windows Update Standalone Installer fails with the message "The update does not apply to your system".
I'm now baffled and stuck. Any advice appreciated as I don't fancy paying through the nose for Microsoft support to tell me something obvious.
Buddy the system is not letting you install the updates ... and that we both know ... lets do one thing if the system is under warrantty contact HP because there has to be some changes made with the system and they have to support u for this ... be firm when you speak to them
