if this is obvious then i apologize but cannot make this board work!!@#$
currently running Promise 378 SATA1 and SATA2 on RAID 0 no problem...but system will not recognize any drives attached to SATA1 or SATA2 on the ICH chipset SATA controller!@# I have tried various BIOS settings...run the Intel Chipset Utility...to no avail!! Power..connections..jumpers all checked and rechecked...how do you get SATA drives on the ICH to be recognized???? Help!!
Not going to look up which is which but one controller runs ide and one runs sata (bleh,I looked it up in the manual.ICH5 runs sata and promise378 runs sata and ide on the primary raid channel) both drivers need to be copied from the install cd onto floppy and loaded during install of windows-instructions are in chapter 5 pg 23-25 Ive got a p4c800e running raid0 on both contollers at the same time I believe Ive got 6 drives in raid0 in that box I doubt anyone uses this board anymore that hasnt already figgered it out but there ya go

Since you can't use the on board Promise Controller and the Intel on board controller as they ARE mutually exclusive, I guesss that means that I can't use my 4 SATA drives and my 2 ATA 133 HDD. right? I have a SATA 160G Barracuda on "SATA 1" & "SATA 2". These are tho only drives my board (Asus P4C800E-Dlx) recognizes. I have the other MB ports labeled "SATA RAID 1" and "SATA RAID 2" connected to 2 SATA HDD (same kind), and I have the PPromise ATA 133 80 ribbon (40 pin) conne3ctor hooked to 2 Samsung ATA 133 EIDE 160G HDD's (one master - one slave). The BIOS won't recognize them either. Does anyone know what the maximum RAID 0+1 array is availble on the MB, and what the compastable hardware connections are? I've spend $3,400 and only 2 of my 6 HDD's are being seen!#@#!!

Go into IDE configuration and set to Enhanced mode. This will omly work with 2000/XP, if you running ME or 98 you have to use compatible mode. In compatible you can run any 4 drives. 1 IDE + 2 ATA or just the 2 IDE See page 4-11 in the manual.

Did you load the Promise Drivers yet? The controller will not be recognized anywhere until you load the drivers. It took me a while to figure out that you do this when installing Windows XP. If you need instructions on how exactly to do it I'll post back. Nothing in the manual about this. It's aggravating.
