Question about Computers & Internet

I have a sony digital frame and the timer is set at 3 second interval however it continues to do the interval at 10 seconds . It is my understanding that the default setting from the factory is 10 seconds . I have gone into the menu and changed it to 3 seconds without success. Any suggestion ?

Have no option for custom settings except going to the menu and changing the time interval which i did without getting any results. Have done this several times .

  • drdalebrown Feb 07, 2009

I have done that and it shows the 3 second interval however when I view the images it continues to do the 10 second interval . On the menu choices I have even selected up to 1 minute and then gone back to the 3 second interval but it still returns to the 10 second interval when being viewed.

  • drdalebrown Feb 07, 2009

I would assume it is being saved since when I go to the menu settings it is showing the 3 second interval highlighted without me doing anything.

  • drdalebrown Feb 07, 2009

The model number is DPF-V700 and I received no sony software with this product.

  • drdalebrown Feb 07, 2009

    no luck

  • drdalebrown Feb 07, 2009

I agree with your conclusion. I have rechecked everything and have already taken it to the local mail station to be returned. It is too bad when things occur but they are THINGS and that will happen. Thank you again for your comments.

Hi there. unfortunately, this device is defective. these digital frames are quite new and, the on board software can only be reset. if the on board software becomes corrupt, the only option is to return it to the manufacture for a rebuild. you can also return it back to the retail outfit that you bought it from if its not to late.

The easiest method is polling, where the data input is under application (software) control. Generally, the application reads the analog-to-digital converter output when a delay loop ends. However, the time elapsed depends on the the PC’s internal processor clock. Therefore, polling typically isn’t used when precise sampling is required. Here, the polling technique is adapted to achieve stable platform-independent programmable sampling.
Two special purpose ICs are in the PC’s chip set. One of them, in addition to providing control of several common system functions, includes two 8254 programmable interval timer ICs, offering six 16-bit programmable timers. All of the timers can work as a counter, with a master clock (1.19317 MHz) common to all. This frequency and the programming register addresses don’t vary among different platforms, assuring compatibility. Three timers are available to the user, allowing time generation from 0.8381 µs (1/1.19317 MHz) up to 55 ms (0.8381 µs × 65535). In this adaptation, timer 2, commonly used by the PC speaker for alarms or signaling, generates the time between samples. The timer, an 8254, is independent of the processor clock

How to use the self timer?

In most cases you have a ring that lets you select 4 things when shooting photos. Top: Flash, Left: Clock (Timer), Right: +/- and Bottom: Flower. What you want to do is select TIMER AND the number of seconds you need. Please understand this setting is not STICKY. You have to set it EACH time you want to take a timer controlled photo. Meaning if you set it for 10 seconds and it take a photo after 10 seconds then you push the button again it will take a photo right away.

I have sony DSC-S500 digital camera i want to know how to take a photograph using self timer thank you Regards Sailaja

Hi,

For capturing the images using Self Timer, press the Down Arrow control button continuously to select the desired mode. You can set the timer for 10 seconds and 2 seconds by pressing the continuously, If we press the button again the Self Timer will be turned off.

Press the Shutter button, the self-timer lamp flashes and a beep sounds until the shutter operates. To cancel the self-timer, press the down arrow button again. You can redice the risk of blur by using the 2-second delay self-timer.

Good Luck!

Hi, Follow these steps:
1. In any Still mode, tap Settings to open the Settings panel.
2. Tap Self-Timer/Burst repeatedly, until the desired Self-timer icon appears at the bottom of the LCD: 10 seconds—A picture is taken after a 10-second delay (so you have time to get into the scene). 2 seconds—A picture is taken after a 2-second delay (for a steady, auto-shutter release on a tripod). 2 shot—The first picture is taken after a 10-second delay. I want a programmable timer that can, eg, switch on a single phase electric motor for 10 seconds every hour. It may be 9 secs or 11 secs.

You need a programmable interval timer.

http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-timers-and-manuals.html#ET70
Intermatic and Tork make digital timers with interval settings that can be set for specific short-duration with 1 minute minimum.
(Or set to pulse bell ringing with 1-127 seconds.
10 minutes is 600 seconds)
For example ET70115 single-channel timer.
The timer would be set for 24-hour operation, and then programmed for Pulse, and then set timer with 24 programs, with 1 program for each hour.

Mechanical cycle timers from Intermatic:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-timers-and-manuals.html#cycle
1) Talento 1 hour cycle timer/ each tripper represents 1.25 minutes
2) Model C8835/ each tripper represents 15 seconds.
To operate these timers certain hours of the day, add another timer in-line.
The in-line timer could be digital, but remember digital timers are not protected from power surge and tend to have more problems, and do not have replaceable clock motors and trippers.
