Question about Acer Aspire 9500 Notebook

Aspire 9500 doesn't start - cursor and drive indicator blinks

Hello!
It happened the second time right now. When i switch on the Laptop ist starts booting - the white Acer screeen apperas (F2 to setup / F12 to change boot device) then it stops. The cursor blinks in the left top corner. And the drive led blinks also. When i push the powerbutton once more the computer shuts down without any delay.
Nothing to do so far. Any Idea??

    Seems to be the harddrive itsself or the connection to the mainboard/controller. The computer doesn't try to use the cd-rom drive at all.

    The real **** is, i just installed the complete computer from scratch the whole day along. And now, when everything is done and all the updates are installed as well as the XP genuine notifcation blabla with phonecall to microsoft and so on - this drive begins to stress me. Had never before any probs.

    Okay, thank's a lot! have a nice day. I will post the result when a new drive is installed successfully.

    Okay, it's not the hardware. Not the drive nor the driveconnector. It's the Xp Pro SP3 Update!!

    Everytime i install SP3 afterwards the PC isn't going to boot anymore. A BIOS problem?

    Sound like you are having a hard drive issue. Or you need to reseat your memory have you tried either of those?

Generally the bios setting will be set to check the primary Hard disk for the Operating system and then move to the CD/DVD drive . It looks like your system is not finding the hard disk. Thats why its moving on the CD drive and trying to read it.

Possible issues :

1) Hard Drive crash
Solution : Nothing much. You need to replace the hard drive and reinstall the OS.
2) Hard Drive connection issue.
Solution : Open the chasi and try to figure out if the hard disc is properly connected.
3) Corrupted OS or boot file
Solution : Try to repair the OS use the OS cd and run the repair option.
4) Bios setting to treat CD drive as the primary media.
Solution : Use the F10 option in the Bios to change the primary Media.

My Aspire one will not allow windows to start and my start button is frozen so I have no access to anything. This happend right after I downloaded updates.
Have you attempted to reboot the machine? By holding the start button for 20 seconds you can shut of the power.

If that fails, remove the power cord and remove the battery. Reassemble and attempt to reboot. Failing that, load your windows CD and attempt a repair.

Based on your explanation, it seems you have a hard drive failure.
Quick solution:
1. You can use Live CD (Hiren, Ubuntu and etc) and boot via USB pen drive to check your hard drive problems.
2. You can use recovery DVD given by your seller.

I just put a Goal3 motherboard in my desktop computer. I included a Galaxy Geforce 9500 video card. When I boot up my computer I get the message : NVidia GEFORCE 9500 GT VGA BIOS v2997 Version...
Try pressing enter when this happens.

If nothing happens then it could be a problem with your boot order. Press the key that your manual says to enter the bios when you start up your computer. Check your boot order and make sure the hard drive your OS is installed on is the first on the list.

If it still isn't booting, try seating the hard drive to a different sata port. Make sure the hard drive is powered as well.

You can also try re-seating the RAM and using the graphics chipset instead (By removing your graphics card and switching your video output to the stock motherboard vga or hdmi output)

If all fails, you may have to return your motherboard for a new one, hopefully you have a warranty.

My acer aspire laptop has a blank screen when it is turned on it was working fine and I pressed alt+f10 then it went blank with just a white blinking cursor
Hold down the power button until the computer completely shuts off, wait 10 seconds, power it back on.

What happens?

Won't boot. all I get is a blinking cursor on a black screen.
The os has failed if the hard drive is bad replace it.Try booting from the Windows cd if you have one and reinstall the Os.If it fails to reload the os you will have to replace the hard drive.

My Acer Aspire 9300 laptop wont turn on......light indicators are on (motherboard light blinks once, light bulb and battery lights on) but no power to fans so no start up. have had this happen before but...
Very possible that something has short circuited on the motherboard. I would also try re-seating the memory located on the bottom of the laptop(which could be loose explaining the intermittent nature of the issue). On an IBM I once fixed that had the same issue I took out the CMOS battery and battery for one week and then re-installed and that fixed the issue. But good luck to you!

yea yur harddriv crashed... try formattin yur drive and create a new partion and load OS .. if it still doesn work then yu ll have to replac yur drive..

Launch Manager does not (really) work on Windows 7 I have the Acer Aspire 9500 (9504-100) and installed a clean Windows 7 x86/32bit. I tried various (recommended) versions of Launch Managers. -2.0.0.1 with compatibility mode. Starts but keys do not work (Fn Works though) -2.0.05 kills my logitech usb mouse and doesnt work (Fn works) -3.0.03 nice volume changing but "bluetooth disabled" message on brightness (Fn+arrow right) Strange. -3.0.06 installs, reboots and does not show up in the Start Menu...LManager.exe fails to start manually I also tried installing a win 7 LaunchManager to copy over the Vista exe over the original as sugested by someone here. No luck. The Fn key still works without the LaunchManager. (volume and brightnes, ut it does not show green bars or symbols) Any suggestions ? :)
