What is the F key to restore my Acer Travelmate 4230 to Factory Settings? I want to restore the Factory Windows Vista on my Laptop

Generally it is suppose to be F11 key.

On couples of computers we use F11 so it should work for you dear.

Good luck.

Thanks for using Fixya.

How can i restore my laptop to factory settings

Most of the HP Notebooks are shipped with recovery partitiona d you can restore to factory settings uisng teh recovery partition.

Perform ing Full System Reocvery will completely remove the data on the hard drive. Hence it is recommended to take the back up of the important data present in the Notebook before perform ing the Full System Recovery.

1. Restart the notebook.
2. At the Compaq logo, press F11 to initiate the Recovery options.
3. The PC Recovery screen will be displayed. Select PC Recovery and
press Next.
4. In the next screen, click OK to access the Recovery menu.
5. You will receive a screen explaining the System Recovery Process.
Click Next to continue.
6. Once the Recovery process is completed, you will prompted to either
restart or turn off the computer.

Im not sure what exactly you have in the recovery partition ..but from what I know ..this is accessible by pressing F11 on boot ..and the info stored in it will restore the computer ..if you had vista in it before...probably will reinstall it ..so first just try to boot..and press f11 during the device displaying ..just like entering bios..and follow the instructions if it works..
another way is to install a clean operation system ...(the one that you use to have ..) by booting from cd ..(this will allow you to rearrange the partitions during install...in the moment when it sees previous OS ..and ask to choose a location for install..
after a clean install use the recovery cd that came with the laptop..
But..first try the recovery from that partition..if f11 do not work let me know and I will make some research in this matter ..

I am trying to restore my Dell Inspiron 6400 to factory settings as I have a Trojan that I cannot get rid of. However when I press ctrl f11 nothing happens and my laptop continues to boot to the OS. I have...

If you want to reformat to factory condition, then press Ctrl + F11 at start-up when the blue bar comes up with "Dell.com" on it. If you miss it then just let it start up, then restart and try again. If it still does not work, press F12 at startup and select recovery option. Please note, if you have deleted the Dell Recovery Partition this will not work for you. You will need to reformat by inserting your Operating System CD at Startup and booting from that (F12).

Hello.

Either you have a memory issue or operating system problem.

First, try reseating (removing and reinserting) your memory (try one module at a time to test).

If still a problem, boot your system to Safe Mode (press F8 repeatedly). Go to System Restore and choose a date when your system worked OK. Note: with System Restore, everything, including your documents and other files you saved on the hard drive, will roll back to that date.

If still a problem, the last choices are Factory Restore and reinstall. Accessing Factory Restore (restores to the factory settings and will wipe out anything that you have installed or saved on your PC), is dependent on your hardware manufacturer. Boot your system and press F10, F11, Alt+F10, or Ctrl+F11 to access Factory Restore. Follow the prompts.

If still not resolved, you'll probably need to reinstall your operating system.

Hope this helps.

How to restore my acer aspire 5315 back to factory settings i have tried every thing i can think i press f8 on startup then boot logging but nothing happens HELP?

Just after pressing Power button try to press and hold FN+F10 if this does not work try FN+F11, you can also keep holding a FN and simultanuously pressing F10 or F11. This should take you to the system recovery screen then follow procedures from the screen. Another way is to activate hidden system restore partition on the hard drive if there is any, the simply reboot your computer.

Factory settings on my laptop

It's usually F11 or Fn+F11 at the bios startup screen to enter recovery mode.

If that doesn't work, let me know.
