Question about Kenmore 22422 Top Load Washer
I have a Kenmoer 70 Series and when it reaches the spin cycle I have to help it spin it does this in the rinse cycle. Please help these economic times are tough and need to try to fix myself if I can.
It sounds like you have a bad clutch in the washer. To diagnose
this failure, you would need to pull off the washer cabinet and pull
the transmission. It is likely that you would find the clutch band
glazed over. It is probably not exerting enough torque to release the
brake and spin the washer. If you find this problem, you can try
sanding the band to rough it up. Reassemble the washer and check for
proper spin. If this fixes the problem, you will need to order and
replace the clutch band.
This type of procedure is usually performed by a service technician. I don't recommend attempting this repair unless you are completely confident that you can safely perform the work.
