Question about Vacuums

1 Answer

Hoover Telios TC3202 200W Cord Rewind is jammed - cannot see how to open body of vacuum to look at the source of the problem. Found 4 screws but that did not help - guess you have to prise something open but cannot see where or how.

Thaniks very much as there is no way I would have "found" that by guesswork. I thought there would be some trick to it.

can I ask whether it goes back as easily ? Does the swithc plate just clip back on or is there another trick?

Cable stuck fully extended. Asked the question as to how to fix it and up came your site. Great site.

Glad to have found this info as I had the same problem. Well done internet! Who would have thought the forth screw would be down inside the power on off spring support. Thanks again.

There are many models of the Hoover Telios. This solution applies to the T5603 at least, but perhaps not to all models... sorry, I don't know about the others.

Anyway, this is it. The cover is held to the base by 8 screws. Two are clearly visible near the handle, two are in the bag compartment. They are easy!  The problem is finding the others, because they are concealed by the foot-operated switch plates, and you have to get those plates off without breaking them.
Basically, those plates slide off backwards (i.e. away from the handle end) but you have to release a plastic catch first.  The catch is part of the switch-plate, and is located roughly mid-way along the straight side of the plate, just by the raised bump.  You can just see the catch if you shine a torch light down the gap.  The catch is released by inserting a small screwdriver or other flat blade and levering it away from the centre-line of the machine.  If you apply gentle rearward pressure on the plate while doing this, you will soon feel when it's released.
Once the catch is released, the plate will slide off completely and the remaining four screws are revealed.  After that, it's simple!
Hope this helps!

Hi Martin - glad this was helpful, and very grateful for your feedback as this was my first posting on Fixya!  Yes, they go back even more easily, as you don't have to fiddle with the catch. Just make sure you locate the plastic pins in the holes and slide the plate forwards. Good luck!

Hoover telios 1600 dismantling

Remove the 4 screws in the Dust Bag compartment.

Remove the Power button and Cord-rewind botton. This involves using a screwdriver or knife to open/undo a plastic clip located under the bittons near the gril in the top-centre-back of the hover.
When holding the clip back, slide the button towards the bottom of the hover (IE: away from the bag compartment) till it pops out (this can be fiddley).
This will then reveal 4 more screws (within the springs and near the grill).

Then prise the hover open to reveal the motor and power-switch.

Remove the 5 Phillips-head screws carefully without stripping the heads. There are 2 at the front bottom, 2 at the top back (above the wheels), and 1 at the back beneath the dustbin. After the screws are loosened/removed, you can remove the top cover of the vacuum (be careful with the attached wiring harness). Then remove the black plastic cover over the cord rewind wheel, and you can easily remove the wheel. Pull the cord out a bit to give yourself some slack. You should be able to free the jammed cord and then reassemble the vac.

Cable does not wind in. Hoover Helios 2000. Found the 4 font fixing screws - there must be more at the back. How do you get at them?

The flex is fitted to a spring loaded cord reel.
in side the Telios, chances are the reel is faulty and too expensive to change, either get use to it or buy a new one. sorry

The hoover keeps switching on and off automatically.

Sounds to me like there is either a loose wiring in the pedal or mains power cord. Check that the plug is secure. Check both filters though - one behind the bag (usually square and slides out) as well as the main exhaust filter at the back between the power on and cord rewind button. I used to own many Telios models but they are known to have cheap shearing cords which can only be replaced by a Hoover repairer. Sometimes the On pedal can be affected as well particularly if it has been stamped on heavily.
Dont forget to rate, ty.

Hoover s3639 vacuum...cord does not rewind

I had the same problem with my Hoover s3639. The cord rewinder started squeaking, and retracted less and less of the cord each time, until it finally stopped retracting the cord at all. Here is what I did. I hope it will work for you as well. Open the covered tool storage and remove the tools. You should see three screws. Unscrew the screws. Remove the cover. You should see the motor for the vacuum and the cord rewinder. Between the vacuum motor and the white wheel where the cord is, you should see two brass wheels that turn into each other in order to operate the cord rewinder. Spray a small amount WD-40 between the two brass wheels. This should solve your problem.

Pwr cord rewind reel

You have to pop the grey button off for the cord rewind. There is one more screw under there. You have to be very careful, because you can break one of the tabs that hold the button on. In fact, it is almost a garuntee. There are three tabs that stick off the button that hold it in place on the orange hood. There's a long tab about 3/4 inch long on the inside corner of the button you need to be careful of. Good luck!
